Hair falling out in shower

Hi guys

Ive recently decided to grow my hair out and over the past month or so I have been noticing little lumps of hair in the shower afterwards. There's probably around 20-30 hairs in a clump at the bottom of the shower. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week so I'm not sure if this is because I don't wash it everyday or because its gotten longer etc. I have thick curly/wavy hair naturally and cant see any physical hair loss on my head, here are some pics that I've taken today.

My dad started losing hair around 25 and my mums side is mixed in terms of hair loss.

Anyone else experience something similar before noticing hair loss?

You are more likely to notice hair falling out when you grow it long.
It is more visible, more likely to get caught in the shower drain and the hair that drops normally throughout the day (50-150hairs/day) can get trapped between other hairs so that you will notice when you shower or comb. It is common for men who grow their hair out to fear the newly noticed shedding due to the justifiable paranoia about male pattern baldness.
20-30hairs in the shower for a twice weekly wash is nothing to be alarmed about.

If you have a preponderance of hairs falling out that are weak or thin (small diameter) or/and short length then there may be miniaturization occurring.

Your hair looks good mate really thick and doesn't seem to be any hair loss imo, 20-30 hairs is nothing if you only wash your hair 1-2 times a week, I wouldn't worry

Your hair looks perfect. I had been noticing more hair loss than you in the shower for the last few months. I would lose up to 30 hairs on my hand and I showered every 2-3 days. I was certain I was going bald but it kept up for 6 months and there was no thinning and I visited a derm who confirmed I wasnt balding. I was delighted, obviously Ive just always had this high shed going on but only noticed recently. I used to never look at my hands in the shower

You have a lot of hair and no recession in your hairline whatsoever. Don't worry.
