Hair from back/sides naturally thicker?

This may be a silly question but are the hair on the sides and back supposed to be generally thicker than the hairs up top? Meaning, even for non-male pattern baldness sufferers are the hairs up top generally finer than their sides/back hair? I ask this because I want to know if it would be a good comparision to know just how much thinning the hairs up top have gone through in comparison with the sides... but if the sides are naturally thicker then this would be a bad comparison.

bump.

Very good question, but I believe that before you hit puberty your hair on top is in fact as thick as your side/back hair. I know this is hard to believe - the hair on the back of my hair is like a god damn rug.

If anyone has any contradicting evidence I would be happy to hear it.

i would assume if your balding or thinning then yes the hair on top will be thinner than back, sides. If not then it will be even all the way around...
