Hair growth on side (occipital) hair - study

I am a male with androgenetic alopecia plus retrograde alopecia (thinning of side hair).

Although I have experienced hair regrowth on my crown and vertex with min and finasteride, I have had zero progress with my side (occipital) hair

My side hair has in fact continued to thin at a frantic rate.

Until lately.

After trialing various novel compounds exclusively on my side hair, I came across one that within a few days completely stopped almost all hair fallout on the sides.

I have recently found a clinical study that supports the notion that this compound works on occipital hair.

The compound I am referring to is topical melatonin.

Review the following study on the impact of topical melatonin on occipital hair regrowth.

PS: I have searched high and low for any other studies with compounds that have thickened side hair, but I have found none.

If anyone knows of any other hair regrowth products that has successfully thickened side and nape hair (which is apparently non-androgen sensitive), then please let me know.

I've had some success with light microneedling and applying minoxidil there a few times a week. Of course I'm also on estrogen which also can help for those that can stomach (breast?) the side effects...

@RStGeorge Did you use a separate melatonin solution or was it a component of your minoxidil solution?

Are you still getting results with this? I recently discovered I probably have retrograde alopecia as well and looking to add something to my stack to combat it.
