I've been on propecia since sept '07. my overall head looks better but my hairline is still obviously thinning and i feel like sh*t in the gym. My strength is down, i'm actually losing weight and my hairline is still going back.
Previously, I thought my hairloss on my hairline was from the minoxidil foam I was using. I discontinued the foam around the end of dec or so and my hairline is still going back. I'm also using spironolactone, and nizoral and still no luck. Does anybody have ANY idea what is going on? this is really frustrating....

According to propecia's clinical trials 2 out of 3 men regrew hair. It could just be that you're the unlucky third.

You have barely been on it 5 months. Propecia takes a year to work. (At least before it can be really cosmetically noticeable). Just chill out and give it another 6-7 months before you get all judgemental.

You have barely been on it 5 months. Propecia takes a year to work. (At least before it can be really cosmetically noticeable). Just chill out and give it another 6-7 months before you get all judgemental.

No doubt. Give it time. You will thicken up soon!

No doubt. My first 9-10 months on foam were a nightmare! After that it improved greatly. You have got to be consistant. However had I not made an improvement in those final 2 months I would of quit for sure :thumbdown2:

I don't think any of the drugs out there claim to regrow hair at the hairline or temples. I don't think they even claim to stop hairloss there. From my experience with Propecia, it did stop my overall hairloss and regrew just a little on my vertex. I think you may be hoping for something that's very rare.

The only way to be truly objective is to take some photos now, then some after a year on the drugs and compare the two. In the meantime daily haircounts and shower drain inspections mean nothing.

7 months on Propecia/finasteride and now 8 months on dutasteride and lots of aggressive loss at hirline and temples..nothings worked. My crown was solid and remains so..hope that its going to hold that!

I strongly suggest you read the clinical data on the official Propecia website before throwing in the towel on your treatment.

"99% of men had visible results after 2 years of treatment. Only 1% had visible decrease of hair."

THATS 2 YEARS!!! You haven't even been on Propecia for a year yet! You just have to learn to stop analysing every day for further recession/loss and take a positive attitude that Propecia WILL eventually start working in due course. In the mean time try to NOT focus on your hair (very difficult I know.)

Patience is the key to success.

If your hairloss is getting THAT bad - the shorter it is the better, esp. if you have a deep frontal recession.

I'm in the same position. Been on propecia for 1.5 years. It has helped in the vertex and middle of the head but the hairline is just not responding. I have come to the conclusion that a hair transplant is needed to get it back. I am going to Hansson and Wong.
