Hair Loss At 16? Any Possible Solutions?

ok so I just hit 16, but recently I’ve noticed my hairline is been receding a bit. I think I’m around a norwood 1.5 rn, but I’ve noticed my temples are receding back a bit & the same with my hairline which is uneven (might of always been) but my right side is forms like a half U shape while my left the center goes back a bit more.

I thought my hairline might of just been maturing, but I noticed in the last few months a few of my frontal hairs/ hairs around my hairline are thinner than the hairs behind them. I’d be perfectly fine & content if my hair stayed this way till I’m atleast 30, but that probably won’t happen at this rate.

So, what I’m trying to get to is, are there any solutions or ways I can treat this.? I’m already taking Biotin and Multi Vitamin supplements, along with LLLT, but I don’t believe there’s any effect as of yet. I heard of propecia and rogaine, however I’m not old enough to take propecia & I’d like to avoid using minoxidil bc it’s just going to b difficult for me to afford.

Side Note- I’m not 100% sure if I’m balding (although I believe I am) or not because the recession isn’t really anything significant as of yet, but the few thinning hairs on the front + my temples starting to recede will probably be noticeable to others once they go back again.

My parents both have experienced hair loss, but not at this age, & my dad’s parents + siblings both have a full head of hair, same with my mom’s side besides her dad who’s now bald.

Just noticed I wrote down quite a lot sorry

They sell cheaper brands of Minoxidil on eBay. Be careful and don't buy the one with water only. But yes, some are real. Qgain, for example.

Like they said try to find an affordable minoxidil. And it might hold your hair in place until you start taking finasteride. I'm just now turning 21 and my dermatologist said i'm the right age to start it. Try to make sure your hairline is receding tho, best of luck!

Thanks & I think it’s receding bc some of my outer hairs are thinner, but since I just started taking supplements and using LLLT a little less than a month ago, do you think I should wait a little longer & then get on minoxidil? I’m only reluctant to get on minoxidil bc I feel like it’ll b a huge inconvenience for me needing to apply it twice daily + I heard missing a day can result in a lot of hair fall. I’m open to the idea if nothing else will work tho.

I used it only once a day for about a year and got nice results, but twice a day is a little more effective which is why I started using 2. Missing a day isn't a drama, just don't make it an habit, the hair fall happens if you stop for a long time or entirely. I wouldn't start unless I was sure, since it's a lifetime commitment friend

What I would recommend is trying the buzzed hair look for a couple of months may be at age 18/19 if you are sure by then you are balding. Grow it out again, but people will have seen you with the buzzed look and then later on if you have to shave it, it's not a big of a deal, people have seen you with that kind of look before.

You're young there's a decent chance by the time as you get older they'll be better things available than there are today.

Don't let it get you down, you got lots of great times coming up at the age, stressing over hair at this age is just silly.

Thanks for that, I’m not sure if it’s balding or not but my hairline has definitely went back even if it’s just slight. Also noticed my temples went back too, but at the same time it could just b maturing I assume?

80 dollars a year, if you can't afford that you have no options. Go to a dermatologist to get a professional opinion before you start using it.
Thanks, I didn’t realize minoxidil was actually not expensive at all. My main issue really is my parents both whom experienced hair loss, but are still hanging on insist that derms can’t do anything for me & won’t be able to determine if I’m balding or not.
