Hair Loss Help - Initial Treatment

Hi all,

New to the forum, so apologies if this is in the wrong section! I am 23 and have been concerned about my slightly receding hairline now for a couple of years, and have spent far too long debating back and forth with myself about whether or not to do something about it. The bulk of my hair isn't particularly thin, average I'd say, and I don't think I have any hair loss at the crown, it is the front of my hairline I am particularly concerned about, which has minorly receded and thinned over the past few years.

I started to feel as though my hair was slightly receding at about 18 or 19 years of age, and whilst I certainly don't think it has got dramatically worse since then, I definitely would like to stop it from going any further. The only thing I have used so far is Alpecin Double Effect shampoo, which to be honest I am completely unsure of as to it's effectiveness, as it's something I've only used on and off and because of it's price.

So my question is, where should I really be looking to start? Of course I would love to actually regain even a small amount of my hairline, but first and foremost my goal is to absolutely not lose any more, if at all possible. Unfortunately I am on a bit of a budget, but I know minoxidill doesn't have to break the bank these days and I also know there are a number of supposed hair loss shampoos out there for a reasonable price, though I have no idea as to their effectiveness. Are any of Alpecin, Nizoral or Growganics actually worth using?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who replies,

Nathan.

Finasteride is the only thing that can slow or actually stop the progression of your hair loss.

Thanks for the response. So basically without directly blocking/inhibiting DHT there isn't any shampoo (even a supposed anti-DHT shampoo like Growganics) or minoxidil product that will stop or noticeable slow further hair loss?

What are the risks in times of libido with something like finasteride? Is it a minimal risk? I've also read that if you come off it there are some studies that show that you potentially lose more hair than you would have had you not started in the first place?

everybody reacts differently so no one knows, if you are looking for an anti-dht shampoo throw an eye to Regenepure DR,
I mix it with a aloe vera shampoo (75% aloe vera, 25% DR) and my hair look thicker, I dont use 100% DR because I got sides -_-'

You got sides from Regenepure ? :hmmm:
