Hair system soon... few questions

So, I'm using a local clinic that specializes in systems for men. It will be bonded with a poly fuse adhesive.

1. They told me it can stay on for 3-4 weeks, but I can come in as often as I want. Will it really stay FIRMLY attached for that long?

2. How feasible is it to wear this in the water? What about scuba diving?

3. Very high winds.... 80mph on a jetski, will it really hold up and the front not flap up AT ALL?

4. if you put the palm of your hand on you forehead and run you're fingers through your hair with a slight tug, will it lift up?

Mind you, I am told this is a very lightweight system and the highest quality and newest forms of adhesive to bond.

Appreciate the responses, may have more questions as I get closer.

Also to note, I'm used to wearing a lot of toppik and have been for a few years. So I've been avoiding all of those 4 questions during that time. I can live without them

When I started wearing I was on a similar deal (except the "come as often as you want" part). The glue they use is incredibly strong, but they don't glue the piece to your scalp, but rather to a strip of hair around the perimeter, which they cut about half-a-millimetre long (your "track"). The glue is certainly good for 4 weeks, but the hair on your track grows out in that time, and since the system is attached to it, the system itself becomes loose. How loose depends on how quickly your hair grows. In my case by the end of the month there was quite a lot of slack in the fit, so if you pulled the hair on top of you head the base would perceptibly lift up. Also, as the hair on the track grows out the piece is lifted up, maybe a millimetre or so by the end of the month, so the join between biohair and hairpiece becomes very evident to the touch.

The glue track only applies to the back and sides (at least in my case - I have no hair left where my hairline should be), so the hairline was applied with ordinary hairpiece tape, which I had to change every week - quite a manoeuvre with the rest of the piece still glued in place.

This is all a few years back, so possibly things will have moved on. But check it out - at least you now know some questions to ask.

2. How feasible is it to wear this in the water? What about scuba diving?

As I said before, I have done this, and it is feasible with waterproof tape. You will need to tape all the way around, so it is not compatible with a beautifully exposed hairline. That is OK, because when you come up your hair is naturally stuck to your forehead anyway, but you can't then slick it back. I would leave a ball cap in the boat for when you come up. It is best to have a heavy density piece for this, so that tape lines etc are not exposed when the piece is completely soaked. If you wear a low density piece it might not work as well.

3. Very high winds.... 80mph on a jetski, will it really hold up and the front not flap up AT ALL?

No problem with a fresh attachment. To be on the safe side use a lace piece for this rather than skin, because the wind just blows through it.

No. No one would be wearing a system if that were the case.

Whats the difference between lace and skin? I know the one im getting matches my skin color, but also is see through so you whatever color your scalp is.

Also, they told me its adhesive applied to my head than system applied to it. They said only they can take it off. Didnt say anything about tape. Would that be a problem with wind or water?

From what I read, lace is far more durable, breathable and more easy to attach.


Skin is less detectable, because it's flush with the skin. The draw backs are it's not as breathable, and attaching can be hard because the glue settles almost instantly.



Iv'e heard of people combining lace with skin. SKin at the front, and lace all around.

"lace" is a fine netting rather like pantyhose without the stretch. "Skin" is a very fine plastic membrane. Both are transparent and you can see your scalp through them both. Lace is mainly holes, so wind and water run easily through it, whereas Skin forms a barrier between your scalp and the outside.

Your description sounds more like a skin system combined with a full-head glue attachment, which is different from what I had. That should be very secure against wind and water. Often those systems are disposable - one month-long wear and then you get a new one. Is that the case with what you are getting?

They said it can last a month, but i can get it replaced every 2 weeks if i want. Also come in weekly for scalp clean, style, and re attach

I have shaved my head for almost 6 years now - I am so glad their are systems out there. Finding the right one seems to be a task.
