Hair Thinned 12 Years Ago But Hasn't Worsened. Would Propecia Help Me Now?

I noticed my hair receding at 21 and immediately started Rogaine and Nizoral. It stopped the receding dead in it's tracks. However the crown thinned as well around the cowlicks. I don't have pictures from back then but here are pics of my crown today. I'm about to be 34 but it looks exactly the same as it did when I was 21. So essentially it got like this over the course of 6 months but hasn't worsened in 12 years. With that said I don't want it to get worse and I would kill for some regrowth via propecia. Would that even be possible since it went untreated for so long?

Your crown is not smooth bald, you have thinning hair. So propecia may help you to maintain what you have and give you some regrowth.

The only comments I got were back in early 2006 when it was first brought to my attention. "Hey you're balding back there." Since then I haven't heard anything but I'm sure people notice. I'll ask my wife of 11 years or long time friends and they just say "Your hair has always been like that." I'm under no false impressions that it's not terribly thin or on it's way to balding though. That's why I asked if the propecia would be worth a shot. I know you need to start as soon as possible and I didn't exactly do that so I didn't know if it'd be worthless at this point.

I use the rogaine on my temples as well as the Nizoral shampoo. I was only concerned about my hairline but after reading about propecia if there's any chance at all I can get some crown/hairline regrowth or at least keep it where it's at then I am going to get on it ASAP.

If it hasn’t worsened I’m sure if you get on finasteride it’ll stay the same for a long time. You may get some regrowth but I wouldn’t count on it. If it’s been like that for over a decade then I’m sure you’re comfortable with it (hopefully) and maintaining would be worth it.

I couldn’t live without toppik lol. I’m also 22 so I’m still relatively young to be balding.

Based on the photos you posted if I saw you IRL I'd be like damn to be young with a full head of hair again. I literally don't see any balding or signs of it on you. Then again I'm not exactly an expert lol that's why I'm here.

Yeah I’m on propecia, I don’t think it’s working for me though. I’ve lost a lot of hair while being on it, about 7 months. I’m still going to keep taking it because I have no side effects.

Nah I tried the oil to help with inflamation but I hated the way it made my hair look, I couldn’t stand looking in the mirror haha.

Toppik alone with some hairspray. Toppik would honestly work great for you. I definitely recommend it.

The only issue is once you start you won’t be able to stop. If I run out of toppik I won’t go out without a hat.

Seems that your hairloss has stopped. Don't start finasteride unless you tell by expert.

Minoxidil might grow that crown back.
