Im pretty sure my hair thinning / shedding is caused by hormonal imbalance. I'm shedding everywhere on my head without a receading hairline. I can easily pull off hairs from my hands, legs, and when I run my hands through my chest hairs fall off aswell. Its been this way for about 3 months now..

Shedding has decreased I think, but i'm not 100% sure. My derm asked me to wait it out. Is there anything I CAN do though? Also, does this thinning go back to normal once my hormones stabilize? (im 19 btw)...

Thank you all in advance:)

I started 15mg zinc supplement for this reason. I just started yesterday so I can't tell you about the results.

I started shedding hairs from all over my body after 3 months of vigorous endurance exercise without proper diet.

Good job discussing everything with your dermatologist and ppl on this site before you rush into things.

Good luck!

Zinc helps to regulate hormones ? I'm taking 250mg every day

250mg for real?

Try a more subtle approach. We're talking about balance here.

Copper Deficiency
Exposure to excess zinc inhibits the absorption of copper. Fatigue, paleness, skin sores, edema, slowed growth, hair loss, anorexia, diarrhea and dermatitis can be symptoms of copper deficiency. Copper deficiency can also affect the immune and cardiovascular systems. The condition also can cause reduced red blood cell function and reduced red blood cell life span, which can lead to impaired energy levels and cause weakness and labored respiration from decreased oxygen delivery.

Definitely! 250mg is way too high.
Copper deficiency caused by zinc overload happens with supplements between 100-150mg per day and according to some websites it happens with dosages even closer to the recommended daily amount of 15mg per day.

multivitamin tablets and omega 3 along with a good diet and regular exercise or general activity might do the trick :)

if we're assuming it's a lifestyle/diet problem anyway...
