I just noticed today that i'm losing hair on the sides and back of my head as well.

now.. just incase you havenet heard my story.

June- Had pnemonia.... hospitilized with 104 fever

august- noticed thinning hair under light in mirrors
end of august- started panicing and got on propecia, nizoral, t-gel

things got worse... maybe from my own stress/
begining of november- had bloodwork done to test for thyroid problems (clear of problems)
november 30th- apendix ruptured, hosptilized again :-x 2 weeks!

today... hiar is thin as hell, you can see scalp even when it's dry. i even started noticing that hair around my sides are thinning.

I'm wondering if getting on all these drugs (propecia/rogaine) is the wrong thing to do b/c i could be suffering from Telogen Effluvium?

so it looks like i'm playing the waiting game.. I have no idea what to do.. things are just getting worse rapidly.. and it sucks.

My sides and back are thinning as well. I seem to behaving the same kind of sheds as you.

I also question whether I should be on treatment, for a number of diffferent reasons. I can't get any straight answers.

jeffs: is your hair growing back thinner?.. the answer to that one question should settle any doubts you're having. with t.e your hair doesnt regrow thinner. i was just like you, in the early stages of denial just WISHING i could somehow pin down an illness or disorder to blame for the hairloss, but its no use, you'll just waste time.

as for thinning on the sides, loads of people with male pattern baldness thin out on the sides as well. and the back, well i lost an INCREDIBLE amount of hair from the back especially the nape once i started finasteride. i havent recovered from that shed 6 months ago and i dont think i will. but i'm thinning on the sides as well. the diameter of the hair on top of my head, the side and the back is the same, extremely thin.

btw..may i know what your TSH was?... when you got your thyroid tested..

...i've viewed your pics, jeff...your hair still "looks" good, fwiw...but i know, what we see & what others see is oftimes different...have you tried just sticking w/ minoxidil, nizoral/tsal & some spironolactone topical(rather than propec)?
