I have an appointment with Dr. Epstien for 1100 grafts this Friday. I'm getting a bit nervous, mainly dealing with the events afterward. Will people notice, will I need another surgery, stuff like that. I took off of work until next Wednesay, I'm hoping by then it won't be as noticable. :-/

My friend,
you might want to take off a couple more days so that the scabbing and everything else will settle down. Anyway, I don't know much about Dr. Epstein, but I wish you the best of luck!

I'll get some pics up tonight. The more I look at my hair (mainly when it's wet) there's a general thinness all in my scalp. Would 1100 grafts be enough to strenghth the existing hairline. I would say I'm at a Norwood 3. I know pics would help better with this question. :)

1100 grafts would make a considerable difference in your hairline.

Dcampbell, are you currently taking Propecia and/or Rogaine to thicken up your existing hair?

I've been on propecia now for 3 months. The cost per month and loss in libido is somewhat irritating though. I was thinking about trying just the .5 of propecia a day.

I can't ascertain which level of Norwood you are... Probably a Norwood 2, with mild diffuse thinning on top.

I'm sure that Propecia and Minoxidil can reverse your condition, but, if you must opt for the propecure, then 1100 grafts would make a huge difference in your hairline. It would be very dense, too.

Thank you for the encouragement. I hope that propecia can help with the thinning in the back. But I'm going ahead with the surgery for the temple area. I'll ask Dr. Epstien if there will be enough grafts left over to strenghten the hairline in the back. This site has been a big help. :)

let me know how it goes...

I'd agree probably about a NW2. I'm also about a 2, with more of a severe widow's peak than you but coarse dark hair and no diffuse thinning on top. This norwood picture I use actually looks exactly like a picture would look of my head taken from above. I'm booked for about 800 grafts- procedure sheduled for March 1. Keep us updated about progress the first few days...I don't know if you're telling anybody, but I'm planning to be pretty much undercover about the whole thing.

Re: let me know how it goes...

I'm not planning on telling anyone either. If it's unavoidable, I'll deal with it then. But I'd rather not announce it.

Anyone who intentionally targets other patients and resorts to continual cynicism of them obviously has evil intentions. Anyone can see that.

Mahair, c'mon do you really think your name calling of me and others is really doing anything? Those of us who are about self-respect will respect others.

All you are really accomplishing is demonstration of your immaturity and lack of self-respect. But if you want to keep hanging yourself in public, have at it.

Ugh, hair transplant is Friday morning. I'm actually getting nervous. :) Not in a bad way or anything. Just anxious I guess.

Don't be nervous... You'll have plenty of valium to secure your anxiety while there. :) Mmmm,,, valium.

Glad you all done, dcamp. Congrats! Now that you're a few days post-op, how's the healing going? Scabs/redness fading any yet? Keep us updated...
