Introduction

Hair loss can deeply affect confidence and self-image. Many men start losing hair in their late 20s or early 30s, and over time, the baldness becomes more visible.

In this case study, we’ll share the real transformation story of Mr. Suryank Parmar, a 37-year-old gentleman from Vadodara, India, who successfully underwent a hair transplant using the I-FUE technique under the expert care of Dr. Jinkal Kunjadiya at Hairfree and Hairgrow Clinic, Surat.

This story highlights his journey from early hair loss to full hair restoration and explains each phase of his treatment in simple, understandable language.

Patient Profile

  • Name: Mr. Suryank Parmar
  • Age: 37 years
  • Location: Vadodara, Gujarat
  • Condition: Grade 3/4 baldness
  • Hair Loss Duration: 4–5 years
  • Visible Baldness: Noticed over the last 2–3 years
  • Family history: baldness on the maternal side (genetic cause).
  • Other Concerns: Mild itching and occasional scalp pimples
  • Medical History: No diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, or other medical problems
  • Allergies: None
  • Previous Treatments: Used minoxidil and multivitamins with mild initial improvement

Consultation and Assessment

When Mr. Suryank first visited our clinic, he had lost his frontal hairline completely, and the middle scalp area showed thinning. During consultation, we conducted a trichoscopy test to check the condition of his scalp and donor hair.

His donor area (back of the head) showed thick, healthy, black hair perfect for a good transplant result. He was also tested for anesthesia allergy and was found to be non-allergic. After understanding the entire procedure, post-care routine, and expected results, he decided to proceed with the I-FUE hair transplant.

Hair Transplant Plan

Goal:
  • Restore natural hairline
  • Increase density in the middle scalp area
Technique Used:
  • I-FUE (Intelligent Follicular Unit Extraction), a modern, minimally invasive method for extracting individual grafts without visible scarring
Surgery Date:
  • 2nd August 2022

Step-by-Step Hair Transplant Procedure

1. Planning and Hairline Design

A natural and age-appropriate hairline was designed based on his facial structure.
The front and temple areas were marked for new graft placement, while the middle area was planned for density improvement.

2. Scalp Preparation and Anesthesia

The scalp was shaved and cleaned with antiseptic solutions (Betadine and alcohol).
Local anesthesia was given using a pain-free method to ensure complete comfort during surgery.

3. Slit Making (Recipient Site)

Tiny slits were made using precision blades:
  • 1.2 mm blade for the hairline (for fine, natural hairs)
  • 1.4 mm blade for the rest of the scalp
The direction and angle of these slits were carefully controlled to give a natural look after growth.
4. Graft Extraction (Donor Area)

Grafts were taken from the back and sides of the scalp using a 0.8 mm titanium punch under magnification.

The extracted grafts were thick and dark, with most being double- or triple-rooted—ideal for achieving higher density.

In total, 3,817 grafts were harvested and stored in a chilled Ringer’s lactate solution to maintain freshness.

5. Graft Implantation

The extracted grafts were then implanted in the bald areas using the K.E.E.P. implanter, a special device that allows precise placement without damaging the roots.

This step took about two hours. After implantation, dressing was done, and the patient received detailed post-care instructions and medications.

Post-Surgery Recovery and Follow-Up

1. Shedding Phase (First 2 Months)

It’s normal for transplanted hairs to fall out within the first 2 months; this is called the “shedding phase.” About 70% of the implanted hairs shed naturally while the roots remained safely beneath the scalp.

During this time, Mr. Suryank received 2 PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) sessions to improve blood circulation and support healing. The donor area healed completely within 30 days.

2. Baby Hair Growth Phase (3–4 Months)

By the fourth month, new fine baby hairs began to appear. A third PRP session was given to boost growth and improve the strength of both transplanted and existing hairs.
By the fifth month, the overall density looked much better, and he could trim his hair for the first time.

3. Active Growth Phase (6–9 Months)

This was the most rewarding stage. Around 80% of the transplanted hairs had grown by the 7th month. Although the length and thickness varied, the coverage was clearly visible. A booster PRP was given at 9 months to enhance final results.

4. Final Result (10–12 Months)

By the 10th month, Mr. Suryank achieved full, natural-looking results. He was able to style his hair freely, and the density appeared even and thick. He continued using minoxidil and a DHT blocker as maintenance therapy to protect both new and existing hair.

Final Results and Patient Experience

  • Achieved complete restoration of frontal hairline and mid-scalp
  • Natural appearance with correct direction and density
  • No visible scars or complications
  • Donor area fully healed
  • The patient regained confidence and expressed full satisfaction with the outcome.

Doctor’s Notes and Key Takeaways

  1. Proper planning is essential: A well-designed hairline and graft placement create natural results.
  2. Graft quality matters: Thick and multi-root grafts from a healthy donor area provide better density.
  3. Technique and precision: Correct slit angle and implanter use give natural direction and growth.
  4. Post-care is crucial: PRP sessions, medications, and regular follow-ups ensure healthy regrowth.
  5. Patience is key: Visible results usually start after 3–4 months and continue to improve for up to a year.

Conclusion

Mr. Suryank Parmar’s hair transplant journey is a great example of how modern techniques like I-FUE, combined with PRP and medical maintenance, can deliver long-lasting and natural results. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Jinkal Kunjadiya and the team at Hairfree Hairgrow Clinic, Surat, he regained not only his hair but also his confidence.
