Consultation at HairFree & HairGrow Clinic:
Pritesh visited Hair Free & Hair Grow Mumbai clinic, where he was consulted by Dr. Nipun and the clinical team. He was thoroughly educated about- His current stage of hair loss
- Realistic expectations post-transplant
- Technical details of the procedure, its benefits, and possible risks
Step-by-Step Hair Transplant Procedure:
1. Planning & Design:- A customized hairline design was created by Dr. Nipun and his team based on Pritesh’s facial structure and baldness level.
- As Pritesh had Grade 5-level baldness, coverage was planned for the frontal and middle scalp and partial crown, with a possible second session for the full crown later.
- Trichoscopy was done to assess donor area quality and recipient area condition. Donor hair was moderate in quality, mildly thin, and straight to slightly wavy.
- A skin sensitivity test was done before anesthesia to ensure no allergic reactions.
- Scalp trimming and cleansing with antiseptic solution (betadine) were completed.
- Modified local block anesthesia was administered using a vibration-assisted technique for a near pain-free experience.
- Extraction was performed using a 0.8 mm sharp serrated titanium punch under magnification.
- Time taken for graft harvesting was approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.
- Graft quality:
- Around 20% of single follicular units
- 80% were multiple rooted (double and triple root grafts).
- Overall, graft strength and density were average to good.
- Grafts were preserved at 4°C in a graft chiller using Ringer Lactate (RL) solution to maintain viability.
- Slits were made using metal sapphire-tip blades (1.2 mm for the hairline, 1.4 mm for other areas).
- Correct angle, depth, and direction were ensured for a natural and aesthetic result.
- Grafts were implanted using K.E.E.P. implanters of various sizes for 1-, 2-, and 3-root grafts.
- Implantation time was around 3 to 3.5 hours.
- • The procedure concluded with dressing, post-op medications, and personalized aftercare guidance.
Post-Transplant Hair Growth Journey of Pritesh Ingale:
A) Shedding Phase:
- Shedding of implanted hairs began around day 15 post-surgery and lasted up to 3 months.
- 60-70% of transplanted shafts shed while roots remained in place.
- Pritesh was initially worried but was reassured by the medical team that this was a normal part of the process.
- Two PRP sessions were completed during this phase.
B) Baby Hair Growth Phase:
- New baby hairs started emerging from month 3.
- Hair density began filling in the frontal hairline and mid-scalp.
- The third PRP was done during this phase to support ongoing hair growth.
- Existing thin hairs in the native area also improved.
C) Active Growth Phase:
- At 6 months, more than 80-90% of the transplanted follicles had visible growth.
- Hair became more stylable, fuller, and denser, allowing the patient to groom normally.
- A booster PRP session was done at 6–7 months.
D) Final Result Timeline:
- Full visible result expected by 9 to 10 months post-surgery.
- Pritesh was able to do multiple haircuts and enjoy a completely natural hairline.
- No additional medical treatment was required beyond maintenance care.
