I'm planning to start weight lifting again - waiting for people to drop the compensating thing - but hell, I want to get some self-respect back, and weight-lifting to me seems like a good place to start.

Just drop that incel sh*t. They gave up on life, now they try to bring down as many people as they canso they can feel better about themselves. It’s a typical crab mentality. Stay away from this. I can’t afford to think like that even for a second. I don’t even read this subforum because of that. Just go to the gym and lift like your life depends on it. f*** what everybody thinks, especially people who gave up on life.

My situation right now:
  • grandfather dying
  • losing my hair like a motherfucker. I'm gone if I go bald, my face is ugly.
  • 3 years of work ( thousands and thousands of hours ) in startup failed. Thousands of dollars invested gone
  • silicon valley lifestyle, noodles and 16 hours workdays, haven't been on vacation for 3 years.
  • dead broke, I have literally $2 in my bank account. If my friend calls me for a coffee, I say I'm working even if I don't, cuz I can't afford it.
  • would like to go to the gym, can't afford it.
  • haven't had sex since my last break up ( 18 months ). Ended with cheating on her part.
  • I can list you 10 fastest and the least painful ways how to kill yourself in like 10 seconds.
  • living in my parents' basement
  • my ex trying to f*** my best friend, just because she hates my guts ( dunno why cuz she left me ).
  • isolated, depressed, no self-esteem whatsoever...
I'm not exaggerating. I don't know why I would. I don't want to play the game of who struggles more but I hope it gives you some perspective at least. I need to keep fighting. For me it's literally do or die right now.

Yo my dev brother, i’m 28. It’s really hard to hear for me that someone else is in the same position, but it is what it is. We must fight as best as we can and try to find a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s like 500% harder than l thought it’ll be ( just a startup thing ). For me going to the gym sometimes feel like a paradise lol..

I'm not sure where exactly to post this, but I had this realisation today that my hair looks ugly because it is wispy and long and the top and there is zero symmertry.

I looked at the mirror and pulled my hair back to imagine what I would look like with a shaved head. I'm talking maybe a number 1 buzz all over. It actually looked quite good. I realised trying to have any sort of length with the recession creates an ugly look. There is too much going on visually for the eye to look at when you have a messy haircut with recession and diffusion.

I'm very close to shaving bro's, f*** it...

I'm not talking slick bald, but more Freddie Ljungburg style. Or even Iniesta. I've been studying shaved heads / buzz-cut looks for the past few days on people I see on the street. Most of the time if the guy is in good shape, i.e. not fat, skin ok and looking smart, with at least an average face, the shaved look actually looks alright.

I also noticed that guys who still have coverage on the top can look even better, as shaving reduces the severity of the temples recession but still gives you frame. Almost always these guys look better then guys who are losing but try and keep their hair like some sort of dying plant on their head.

Another observation is that a lot of guys with NW5 horseshoes could easily look better with SMP. Given they are shaving it down all the way anyway, I realised that SMP will only improve how they look. Although it is important for older guys to get a diffuse/recessed look otherwise it looks ridiculous.

I suppose every balding guy has his day where he looks in the mirror and thinks f*** it, I've got to buzz this. Growing out hair only serves to increase the contrast of the recession and it just looks ugly. Shaving reduces contrast and recession, and if you are lucky enough to have to have good coverage on the top of your scalp then it still looks good.

Anyway. Yeah, I'm talking myself into buzzing my hair.

What number buzz do you guys recommend ? I'm thinking number 1.

I'm tired of trying to make my hair work. Since it only looks increasingly ugly, I'm looking forward to trimming it down. Then I'll have nothing to hide anymore. And I can be confident in my look without worrying about my hairloss withering away as each day goes by. Its too tiring to worry about it.

I think you should do it.

At least you will know for sure whether you like it or not.

Will you shave it yourself or go to a barber?

I'm Norwood 5 (at least) at the age of 36. I've been shaving for the last few years after years of buzzing it. Buzzing, shaving, comb-over, ofc they're all copes, but in my eyes, buzzing or shaving - depending on the Norwood level - has never hurt one of the guys that I've seen before and after.

The only realistic option for me is SPM - Zidane's hairline is some sort of inspiration for me in this regard (also Pep has some frontline/"isle" left). It does make a difference, not only from the front perspective, but also regarding the side profile. Regarding the latter I actually prefer the shaved to the buzzed look in my state.

I'll probably just shave it myself, guessing I will feel safer doing it that way and give myself the time instead of letting a stranger do it. Besides, unless I'm wrong it's not like it will make a difference to the overall outcome of my buzzed head?

That should be achievable through smp

If you have time - shave it to a grade 4 and take a picture - then shave it 2 and then 1 and take a picture each time.

I imagine a grade 1 will look best but it all depends on your face and structure.

Do you have facial hair?

Can you explain what you mean by 'copes' ? Personally I'm tired of this word that is used to make people feel bad about improving themselves in anyway. To me it sounds like the words of a man who has given up all hope and wants to bring others down with him.

To me there is nothing wrong with doing something if it makes you feel or look better. You shouldn't be shamed for it. People get hair transplant to look better. People get SMP to look better. People also get muscles and buzz their hair down to look better. If that's coping to you, then fine, give up and have nothing at all going for you.

RE SMP, I completely agree with you. I'm staying positive and hence why I'm feeling more positive about buzzing my hair down as a prelude to getting SMP as I want to get used to seeing my scalp before getting the work done.

I can grow out a beard if I want although I lack the genetics to grow something really thick, but if I left it for like six months and trimmed it occasionally I imagine it could look quite impressive.

That's a good idea RE taking a picture. I guess I have to take a punt and hope that my part Swedish ancestry makes me looks a tiny bit like Freddie Ljungburg.

I noticed that very good looking men still look good without hair, most of the time. Not saying I am necessarily in that category but maintaining a low body fat and having good skin helps. Just need to get rid of those god damn bags under my eyes.
