I am thirty-six and have been losing hair steadily since I was about eighteen. I am a single guy who is otherwise in good physical shape but I am really self conscious now that my hairline is this far gone. These pics are in completely unflattering light of course, but it shows just how diffuse my straight brown hair really is across the whole top.

There seems to be a lot of good advice here. What do you experts think about my prospects for a decent result with a modern hair transplant? I am based in South FL and I know from reading the forum that there are at least one or more top notch hair transplant doctors in the area.

Has anyone else has a satisfactory result with a hair transplant with a hairline like this? How many grafts might it take and what kind of investment am I looking at?

Here are links to the pics:

have you tried finasteride and min?

I think you will probably need something like 3000-4000 grafts to add good thickness and restore the hairline to a certain extent. But it all depends on what type of restoration you want done.

I think it be a little late for those to do very much for me. Min made me feel bloated and feel heart palpitations when I laid down back when I tried it in my 20's so I stopped after a few months. And I am terribly afraid of the possible libido side effects with finasteride.

I have to agree with nohairnodandruff on this one.

You have a nice skull shape, good skin, and you seem to be in good shape. I think you are one of those people who could pull off the shaved head look.

Think of the pros: you won't have to spend thousands of dollars on transplants/treatments ever again, maintainence will be very low. You won't spend much time obsessing over whether or not something is working, or if the grafts are "coming in," and as a result, I think it will be relatively easy to adjust and put the hairloss "problem" behind you. Remember, the less you think about it, the less a part of your life it is.
