Re: Bad hair loss at 14

Wow thats totally diffused. I cant state for sure if its m.p.b or some other condition but its very extreme. Its possible that you have some very agressive m.p.b that is manifesting itself at an early age. But then again it could be something completely different. I really wish I could tell you whats going on for sure.

Anybody out there know a good derm/tricologist who knows his stuff and is'nt just into selling products? :dunno:

What age did you guys atart balding and is your hair as bad as mine?

If this is MBP, can I expect to have no hair what so ever by 20? Also what about wigs? are the expensive ones very good? I think I would have to get one for the whole head.

Re: Bad hair loss at 14

I started at 19 and was a nw6 10 yrs later. I would guess that on average I started younger than most and my hairloss was pretty argressive.
Sorry to say it but I think judging by the position you're in at 16 you will be pretty bald by 20, but thats just my view.
Wigs are a whole other subject but if you're interested read up on the hairpieces section on this forum. Apparaently the best ones are the type that have to be replaced every 6wks or so and they cost about £300 a go.

Yeah I also think I will be bald as a coot when I am 18, let alone 20. £300 every 6 weeks? That seems so steep. Also rogaine, its not for the whole head right? If I was to use it, the whole bottle would be fini in a week.

Well the only good point in getting bald so quick is that I will not get any wanted attention from women lol. That means that I can concentrate much more on my work. Always look on the bright side of life but damn, this was way to extreme and too soon.

BTW during MBP, do you have alot of itching and stinging pains? This may be complete co incidence, however I seem to have stinging and itch in the areas I have the most hair loss. how I wish for the day I wake up and have the same amount of hair compared to others my age.

Re: Bad hair loss at 14

Any extra scalp sensitivity may be pschological but people have reported itching ect before.

Good luck I hope that someone on here can give you some decent advice to help your situation. It must be hard to deal with at 16 but you seem to be taking it alot better than some of the people on here who are much older than you. Sure enough it will get easier to accept the older you are, but if you can find other things to occupy your time with and draw self confidence from you will be ok.

Yeah might as well keep my hair at size five and when I fini six form, shave it all for good. However I have kept my body in shape all my life, therefore think that is a plus. If someone does not find me attractive because I do not have hair, about 99.9% of women in teens and 20's, they just do not deserve me. I am also of indian secent which makes it even harder. I have NEVER seem anyone of indian decent my age with hair like me. IN fact, I have never seen an indian with my hair who are not at least in there late 20's.

Hope to be a doctor, so could help me get an attractive gold digger.

Do you think that the fact that you're thinning at the back and sides perhaps suggests that this is something other than male pattern baldness such as Alopecia Areata?

I honestly have no idea, as did the dermotologist I went to. The trichologist however was useless in every way possible.

If I was to take rogaine foam for my hair and it was not male pattern baldness, would my hair then stay or go away agian if I was to stop using it? There really is huge ground to cover with the rogaine and I might end up getting a migrane very day so that I can have a full head of hair.

Also propecia, does it help keep ALL the hair I have or just the hair at the vertex? I mean If I keep the pathetic amount of hair I have, I will be happy.

If I can start taking propecia, should I try rogaine foam by itself for acouple months before?

Re: Bad hair loss at 14

It might be alopecia totalis. If it was the same at age 14, then either you are an extremely rare case of male pattern baldness (In which your horseshoe isn't resistant), or its something else. How long did it take for it to reach that stage?

Didn't read whole blog, this may have been mentioned, but you should get your thyroid/ blood work and allergies checked immediately. May be a vitamin deficiency. I would 100% stay away from propecia or minoxidil, especially at your age. Also, if you do any drugs, stop. Get plenty of sleep (8-9 hours Minimum) and eat healthy. But I would definitely get my thyroid/blood work/allergies checked yesterday.

Re: Bad hair loss at 14

Tbh i think it may be worth going to a different doctor for a second opinion... Personally i dont think its male pattern baldness, people lose there hair all over like that when theres something wrong with the body...maybe a difficiency of some sorts? May be worth seeing what another doctor says...

On a better note, I think u wud look good with a skin head.... the darker the skin the better a skin head looks imo.... If ur as pale as me then a skin head makes u look ill lol
But if you have tanned/olive skin then i think looks good... still looks healthy.
Same with black guys, i think black guys with skin heads look really cool.... always suites them. If i have to have a skin head soon then im gonna get some tan beds or something :p

also, this didn't happen in two or three months, this is just when it became noticeable. this is more like a year if not more thing, you just didn't notice. I'd bet the farm on it.

Re: Bad hair loss at 14

Well I went to a dermotologist and they did a blood test. Nothing was lacking except for abit of iron and something else. However the dermotologist was not a very good one. I was basically used as lab rat for medical students. I went for my appointment and with the dermotologist was some medical students who she cared about the most. She did not even bother looking at my scalp and only one of the medical students did, however was clueless.

She told me to start on regaine and I was iffy about that. Then went to a trichologist however tried selling me his salon and thats it. He was not good, telling me to start propecua, rogaine and dist, something my dad was horrified about. e does not want to many drugs pumped into me just for hair as I am only 16.

Should I go and see another trichologist? Can someone recommend me a tricholgist a London? Thanks

BTW how much does diet really matter? I mean I am in great shape, however eat alot of junk food. I eat a fish a weel and meat once a week, is that enough protein or does diet not really matter?

Obviously its a good idea to eat healthy, but the chances of this being purely down to diet are mimimal to say the least. If you have good health in general a poor diet would'nt be enough to cause this. You say you eat a lot of junk food, well look around at other 16 yr olds you dont think they do aswell?
Look at all the junkies and homeless with great heads of hair.
I'd still recommend that you up your protein intake to a daily portion of either meat fish or eggs. But dont expect it to make any real impact on your hair.

(watch someone come on here now and tell him to get on protein shakes or eat 400g of protein a day)
