Has anyone out there stopped Propecia cold turkey? Or cut down to EOD instead of Every day? If so, did they have a massive period of shed? Didi you lose everything you gained within 12 months as stated??

Been off Propecia for a month. Cold turkey. No increase in shedding whatsoever.

It could be coming though.

I stop every day for around 24 hours, not noticed a shed yet.

This is interesting, thanks for the feedback. I only ask because I went from 1mg everyday of Propecia to 1.25 mg of Proscar every other day. At the same time I started using Folligen, Nano, and Nizoral, since these changes I have been shedding like there is no tommorow. I have lost more hair over the past 4 months ( which is how long ago I made the change ) then I ever imagined. I went from very good coverage and maintenance on just Propecia to shedding like dog, everyday! Everyday I wake up it's seems like there is noticeably less hair on my head. When I posted this earlier everyone said it was because I cut down my dosage of finasteride. Seems from your responses that this wouln't be the case? I thought it was the topicals and it seems that is what is causing this shedding.

Did you find propecia starting to become less effective after 6 years and thats why you stopped?

I can say that my hair seemed like it wasn't maintaining as well anymore so I wanted to try more. I thought if I used topicals with Propecia it would help. Regardless if Propecia become less effective or not, I can't see it be so ineffective all of a sudden that I would start to shed as bad as I am shedding right now. I am holding on to hope that shedding is a good thing and I will see it all grow back. I think the biggest culprit is Folligen, when I rub that into my scapl there are CLUMPS of hair that come out. I will stick with Nano for the 6 months but I am done with the Folligen. Went back to 1mg of propecia as well.

Mechanical stress can dislodge hairs that went telogen months ago.

Read on the hair cycle.
