Have I started my Mature hairline?

Hello everyone! I recently got a new haircut, and I Immediately noticed that my hair around the temples have been raised. I'm not sure if this is just because of the way my hair was cut (buzzed sides, long on top), or if I've lost my juvenile hairline. Now, when my hair sits normally, you don't really notice at all - just when it's all combed back.

I have the exact same hair colour and type as the men on my mothers side and none of them are bald, even my 90 yr old grandpa has all his hair. My dad however, was not so lucky. The men on his side have black straight and wavy hair and they are all bald.

To get to the point, I love my hair. A lot... I don't want to start balding when I'm 18, when my dad didn't even start until he was 30. So any help or reassurance would be nice!

Here are some pictures or my hair combed up so you can see the hairline. let me know what you guys think! http://imgur.com/a/j5O2F

Dude what's funny is you look like you have exactly the same hairline as myself, if you check out the thread " Big 2/3" you'll see pics of my hair, granted I've cut mine much shorter than yours recently.

I started to notice my own hairloss around age 19, I'm 29 now, I started to use propecia on and off starting at age 25, it was so expensive that I didn't take consistently but now I've beaten the system and got prescribed generic finasteride, which is about 8 times cheaper than propecia.

You may have the start of hairloss you may not. I myself don't have anyone in my family that I'm aware of that is losing their hair. But you never know when you might have a long lost relative that had it.

I personally believe once your hair starts falling out it won't stop, it's just the speed of progression that determines how many view hairloss.

Some people will say you're balding, others will say your simply developing a mature hairline(BS in my opinion) hair loss is just that, losing hair that you used to have hence balding.

But every guy loses their hair a bit. It's the sad truth to being a guy. I just want to know if I have my moms side of bald gene or my dads.

That would be hard to say, although I would say for the most part as a man, it does seem like we gain more of other mothers genes than our fathers. Ever notice that most sons appear more like their mother than their father??

And how most women seem to appear more like their father than the son in the family??

For me there isn't anyone on either side I think of who was bald, not my dad, not his dad not my moms dad. So why I have it is unclear.

I personally think the mature hairline is completely made up and wrong. Isnt the whole point of stopping male pattern baldness to not look as old? How does losing some hair and going to a Norwood 2 not make you look a lot older? Any hairloss makes you look older its just a Norwood 7 is a lot older looking then a Norwood 2. I have seen men that are 40 with no hair loss so every man losing hair is completely false.

You might be. It's too early to tell with a photo like that.

I'd just keep an eye on it, and make sure you don't start losing density in the front. That's when you're gonna need minoxidil or finasteride.

As for now, no medication, just keep an eye on it. Maybe measure how far above your brow wrinkle it goes
