You in your 20s too? Went to this big college party last night and couldn't determine whether the looks I was getting were a weird sort of respect or looks of horror for my bald dome. What's really strange to observe is how easy it is to maintain an outward confidence and air of nonchalance despite the inner world being a chaotic mess. Anyways, why you up dawg?

Well whatever I'm gonna say isn't gonna be much important because I'm a full head right now and have been claimed by everyone over here to be suffering from bdd in my threads posted over here. I'm not from the west so it's afternoon where I am from. You might consider me as privileged because I'm a full head but think of it this way; you've started to shave your head, you've got affirmations from people over here and also from people in real life as well, you're getting girls. Things will only get better from here as you've stopped worrying about hairloss and have taken the shave route which is suiting you well. It might take some time to accept it,but things will only get better from now on. You don't have to worry constantly about losing your hair, checking your hairline, crown or the amount of hair you find on the pillow or the comb. You've passed that phase of unsurity and this lingering insecurity will only peter out as time will pass. It's not like you look repulsive being bald,I as well as a lot of posters have said that you look good.

As far as the stares go, stare is always a two-way interaction. You both catch each other's eyes. Even she must be thinking as to why you're giving her the stare;maybe my makeup is a bit off, maybe I'm not looking good enough, maybe I look ridiculous, maybe my face is looking weird. Point being, everyone has their own set of apprehensions about their looks. I'm damn sure that you would not have thought about these kind of stares when you had a full head of hair but now you do. If these people are known to you,it would definitely garner a few stares as they've been used to seeing you with hair but now since it's gone it's a bit different for them hence it catches their eye. Go to a place where nobody knows you and then check what kind of reaction you get.

Wow that's one hell of a reply. Thanks man, and I know things will gradually improve as I accept the look/fate. The weirdest bit is I still pay about as much attention to my hair loss with it buzzed real close, like I'll notice minor changes in the thickness, hairline, etc. which means the only way to complete freedom is probably the eventual full bic shave. But man you just DO NOT see that on college campuses. Close buzzcuts, sure. Shiny bald heads, nope. Guess that's a decision for another day tho.

The buzz cut exposes the hairline as well as the baldspots a lot so I can understand why you keep checking your hair. I sport bangs as it helps me forget about the thoughts of my hair being styled properly or not. Get up,comb it forward and go about your day. Whatever I say over here isn't gonna really calm your anxieties as that's a battle that only you can fight. No amount of words can curb it.

The other thing that I feel could be a potential problem is that the only girls who genuinely dig the look are scene chicks, trashy chicks (e.g., chicks that wanna f*** vin diesel), or otherwise unstable, usually older, women. Kinda would rather look like a balding, yet still pleasant and approachable dude rather than some shaved head methhead.

Any tips for looking more approachable to ppl? I'd hoped the jewish features might prevent me from looking too aggressive/skinhead, but I still feel like folks might get the wrong idea. I guess dressing nicely would help.

I don't know what's wrong with society if people have awkward reactions by looking at you. This dude has my respect and you definitely look good. If I saw you on the street I would automatically respect you although I don't know nothing about you, but maybe it's due to compassion since I'm a balding fellow, but yeah you already got your replies from others and those are true.

Ahahaha appreciate it my balding brother. It's mainly close friends that I'm getting the discouraging reactions from, but since the vast majority of you are telling me it looks cool enough to strangers I've decided to stick with the look for the foreseeable future and probably eventually razor shave all that sh*t (barring some miracle cure). Lemme know if I can help you with anything man!

People close, near and dear to you were used to seeing you with hair so it would naturally be a shocker for them to see such an abrupt change. Strangers don't have that memory so they're used to seeing as a normal, shaved, bulked guy. As I said, with time everything will be alright.:)

A couple of months ago I tried a "mild" buzz cut , you know buzzed but not completely short. Many friends at school were to some extent surprised and some "made fun" of my new look, although it's a f*cking normal haircut you see everywhere, my hairline was not even so receded (Norwood 1.5) and I think I fairly look good with buzzed hair, at least not worse than with normal hair. People love making fun of short haircuts for no reason, that'a a fact

Very well said. I still remember an incident that happened when I was 13. I had buzzed my hair very short because I fucked my hair up by cutting it myself. So the next day a girl commented that I looked like a prisoner. People love to make fun of short hair no matter what norwood you are. But maybe they make fun because they equate short hair to baldness. Who knows?
