Very well said. I still remember an incident that happened when I was 13. I had buzzed my hair very short because I fucked my hair up by cutting it myself. So the next day a girl commented that I looked like a prisoner. People love to make fun of short hair no matter what norwood you are. But maybe they make fun because they equate short hair to baldness. Who knows?
I think it has something to do with the age. You wouldn't expect from a young guy to buzz his hair because long, thick and styled hair is the best haircut possible a young guy (especially in your late teens) can have, in fact at school those who have thick and styled hair are those who sometimes receive compliments or at least don't shock others. Unfortunately, when male pattern baldness hits you at 18 this is the best you can offer lmao

But that's actually bullshit, not even those who don't suffer from male pattern baldness (yet) don't have enough dense and healthy hair to have a model-like haircut

I think that might be changing ever so slightly with youngish dudes like conor mcgregor, justin timberlake, etc. having super short buzzcuts. Like I got compared to mcgregor at a party this weekend.

The other thing that I feel could be a potential problem is that the only girls who genuinely dig the look are scene chicks, trashy chicks (e.g., chicks that wanna f*** vin diesel), or otherwise unstable, usually older, women. Kinda would rather look like a balding, yet still pleasant and approachable dude rather than some shaved head methhead.

I'd be happy getting scene chicks, they can be hot. Beggars can't be choosers sadly. One of the problems with hair loss is... you have to form a new personality around the fact. That's what they call "owning it." Most people can't (or don't - rightfully) want to do that kind of thing and want to remain themselves, and it clashes with who they are. It's messed up.

Yeah definitely, Timberlake actually used to look good with buzzed hair (just look at "rock your body"), but for people under 20 who try this , I don't want to say it looks ridiculous , because it doesn't at all, but it's weird or at least subconsciously comes across as "dude, it's too early for that"

Very well put. I just so happen to roughly fit the bill for the shaved head thing (I'm a metalhead, do martial arts, always liked keeping a beard, kind of known as a wild guy, etc.), but it must be so bad if your actual niche has always been well-groomed introverted hipster or something.

In this respect I may be even starting with some advantage. I can't remember the last time I was satisfied with my hair. Either it looked greasy and slightly wavy or my hairline looked a bit receded (all of this points to the fact that I started balding at 15).That's why I don't know what it feels like to have good hair, eventually I accepted that my hair is absolutely not part of my identity and will never be since it's betraying me again lol

Similar thing here. Always had fairly crappy jew-fro hair so I kept it real long and wore hats a bunch. So while I do think losing it has hurt my appearance to a degree, not nearly to the same degree as others. Mainly worried that once I decide I have to razor shave it as opposed to jsut buzz it real close, I will not be able to pull it off at all. I guess worst case scenario I just grow a massive viking beard (assuming I'm capable by that point) to balance out my bald dome.

You should consider yourself lucky. Imagine how it would be for guys like me with the facial features of a twink. I'm currently not balding (knocks wood) but cannot imagine how despicable I'll look once it starts.

I don't really have masculine features, at all (except for keeping very athletic). I just grew a beard lol.

From what I've seen, you seem pretty masculine. Lol,if you don't think that you're masculine then imagine how feminine you'd find my features.:D

I think a lot of is the fact that I lift weights and can grow a half-decent beard. Don't really have a masculine jaw or anything. But as long as the head-shape is reasonable and I can live a satisfying life, buzzed/shaved it is.

you are way above average in terms of body man ( if you don't take in consideration all the instagram standard " fake natty" which brainwash people " . So you are good for this point
However this is always better to have hair

Btw why are there so many f*****g balding dudes my age?!? One of the reasons I'm not so bummed about shaving it is that easily 10-20% of dudes at this university have some degree of hair loss. Like a number of my good friends are not too far from my situation, whether or not they know it. And a couple guys I know in their mid 20s already shaved it. I feel like there's a missing link here, unless a good percentage of guys went bald in their late teens/early 20s before too.

Lol so true about the STEM fields. Never considered myself ugly, just not especially handsome. Seriously did not give two shits about my appearance (lifted cuz I wanted to look sick, not for chicks). Just got worried when the fro started to go.

Any wild guess as to how I know baldies and uglies make up most of the STEM fields??:p:D

What are you the next Elon Musk or somethin?
Nah,just another regular STEM student. The chads go to arts or pursue sports while the baldies and uglies try to cope by studying STEM thereby building a strong foundation for their future.
