Hi everyone. Can someone please tell me whether I am balding or my hairline is maturing. Im 29, male pattern baldness on dads side of family but most of them were bald by 25. No one bald on my mothers side. Noticed over the years that my hairline is changing plus my hairline can be deceptive because if I look at it side ways it looks fine but at angle it looks if I am receding. I am going crazy! My hairdresser thinks I am paranoid and the doctor I saw wasn't really helpful. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh most of my dads family members were clean bowled by 25 as in the extreme end of Norwood with some sparse hairs on top! Please help!

are you kidding me? you're 12 years older than me and you have a better hairline than i do.
What you have now is a mature hairline, which is completely normal in caucasians.

Yes, good hairline, but that thinning in the middle is kind of suspect. Watch it, if it gets worse, you can get on finasteride.
Usually male pattern baldness begins by hair getting thin and gone at the corners of the hairline, but there is also another pattern(less frequent) , when you begin to thin in the middle.

Yeah, your hairline looks really good overall but the thinning in the middle is obvious. Finasteride could certainly fill that in with little issue but I don't know if it's worh it with that little hair loss, If it progresses in a couple months then I would certainly get it checked out.

This thing is driving me even more crazy then I anticipated Anyways, took some pictures of the top today and a couple from a month or so ago. Think I have described them in the pictures! See that the thing I cant figure it out my self. I think I have always had that top parting ever since I was 21 or so. I figured it was a natural parting because my head shape is like an elongated egg head i.e. I have like a top point which I can feel if I put my hand on my scalp. I don't know whether this has always been the case or a diving accident I had when I was 8 years old. Basically my skull was cracked open and required 20 odd stiches. So I don't know if its a result of that. You can see the scar its around my crown. Additionally i think I have pictures taken in the dark I cant see any scalp but with lighting and the camera flash ( blackberry) you can see my scalp which really pisses me off as I can figure it out. All of my dads family including my dad had thick hair as in each hair strand was thicker then mine but by at my age they where all Norwood 5/6. But thankfully my mums dad had hair till his death around 40. He had a high forehead though like Christopher Lee/Stuart Granger.I really appreciate your advice guys as I am a novice in this area. One thing I do know is finasteride! but I have been told it will finish your sex drive which kind of freaks me out! Should I wait and just monitor it every 6 months or think about getting on it and basically chopping my little buddy off : ) .Ps no offence taken dreamermerlin any advice is helpful!

You're diffuse thinning from the middle - there is no question about it. The problem with this pattern is that it can get bad real fast and get really difficult to conceal.

I've seen your pattern before in my older brother and he didn't last too long. Now would be the perfect time to get on finasteride. Prevention is a lot easier than regrowth.

Yes, take finasteride and dutasteride and apply minoxidil 15% and don't forget to add nizoral 2% each day + biotin!

maybe upload some pictures of your crown so that people can see and tell you what's going on there too. I am not sure if there are rules as to how diffuse thinning pattern must go about.

crown is ok, no problems there! have fine hair and I cant accurately say whether its male pattern baldness or just the camera flash! There is already a picture of my crown from the back!

I agree with most people here, defo some diffuse thinning between the vertex and mid anterior. Your hairline is perfect though. Get on the finasteride right away and you may not even need minoxidil.
