Background: Have diffuse thinning on top of head w/intact hairline. Hairloss present but basically undetectable except under very close observation. Started Roagine foam around Nov. (2x/day) and finasteride (1 mg.) about a month after that. About 2 weeks into the Rogaine I had a fairly large shed which lasted about 3 weeks, then the shedding subsided Four months into the treatment, hair looked outstanding, and I continued on treatment (I was happy where I was at that point). At this early stage I attribute the progress mainly to the minoxidil.
About two weeks ago, another shed started up again, with the typical "telogen" clubbed hairs with the blob on the end. This shed seems much more pronounced than the initial shed.
What is concerning is that the shed hairs are more miniaturized toward the base of the hair where the "blob" is, and thicker near where the cut ends are. I would say that the miniaturization starts approx. 1/2" from the base, which leads me to believe that "something" changed a month ago (assuming 1/4" growth per/month), and I am observing some regression in the treatment (?).
In the past three or four months, I have lost approx. 25 lbs. due to better diet and exercise. I also moved to New England from Florida, have a different schedule, and am back at school attending classes. So, there are some "positive" stress factors in play, but they are significant changes. Diet is good, everything is good, except the hair. No depression, crash dieting, drugs, etc. but probably drinking a little more than usual, but nothing ever excessive.
I'm just wondering if this is the start of a finasteride shed, some type of stress-induced Telogen Effluvium from the above events, or something else. I'm very consistent with the finasteride and minoxidil. I probably have missed a handful of minoxidil applications over these 6 mos., and maybe skipped the finasteride twice.
Just wondering what your thoughts are, and if anyone saw similar additional sheds around this point?

Oh, also - I started 1% Nizoral EOD around the time I started w/the Rogaine.
