I think you should be more consistent with your use, and stay to it. Things will get better.

For some men, male pattern baldness is sudden and catastrophic, for some slow and limited.
In my view, Propecia/finasteride is not the cause of shedding, finasteride has a very slow, postitive effect on DHT etc and the approx 5 year hair growth cycle. You posted here because you have noticed a coincidental relationship between the finasteride and the shed. It can only be a coincidence.
Having lost practically all my "Norwood" area hair, I started from shiny scratch, and because now I maybe have only several thousand noticible hairs, either strong vellus or long terminal, the normal percentage loss will obviously be relatively small. In a few more years, when I fully expect to have a larger number of terminal hairs in proportion to strong vellus, my sheds will probably be noticible. At present I notife just one or two strong vellus hairs loose on my forehead after brushing in the emu oil (after the saw palmetto, minoxidil & retin A).
I hope you are a good responder to finasteride, but you need to do all the other good therapies on a daily basis.

No finasteride can definately cause shedding. If you stick to your regeime consistantly and battle through a shed then the hair lost will regrow in time.

Can you point to any evidence that finasteride can cause shedding?
This would propose that finasteride can shorten the normal life cycle, which is not proven at all. It is a possibility that finasteride could cause a shock reaction, but this is pure conjecture.

I believe finasteride causes shedding to occur at one time, as opposed to the natural cycle where shedding happens at different times.

I believe that the DHT is significantly lowered in the existing follicles, and as a response, the body will produce a different hair shaft. In doing so, the existing DHT-ridden hair shaft will be cut loose, the follicle will make changes to itself because it's devoid of DHT, then it will produce new hair every cycle.

I haven't taken my Strattera (ADHD) pill yet today, so I'm probably wrong.

I don't see how finasteride can cause immediate shedding.

I started shedding -- massive shedding (>15 strands per pull) -- seven days into treatment. Twenty days in, I went from Norwood 2 to 3. That's how bad it was. Recession continues, but seems to have slowed.
