I used it for 2 years.. decreased the use and then restarted... it should get better, meaning it will stop falling out that frequently..

yeah, i guess i've experienced that also. When i tried using minoxidil for the first time i thought it would gonna help me a lot to my receding temples but i increasingly sheds my hair fast. I try to stop using it for a fear it might get things worse. After a 7 months, i tried buying a shampoo that contains a minoxidil content on it cause it really convince me about the statement of that growing effect. But what a mess, i dont know if its really the one causing it but when i used it for 1 week everyday, my entire hair was fall to very thin and weak.

I was just about to make the same post.. I used minoxidil for 6 months, and when it wasn't going anywhere, I stopped.

Now my entire front hairline is starting to thin out; its been about 3 months now and I'm not sure if it's getting better or worse.

I have a feeling that I would have been better off if I never went on it in the first place. I'm rather scared of the oral DHT inhibiters like propecia, so I'm going to give Nizoral a try, just to see if it'll counteract this recent thinning.

"I was using minoxidil 5%/rogaine for 1.5 years hair loss was under control"

Minoxidil does not halt or even slow down male pattern baldness, it is a regrowth stimulator. It may simulate a slow down of male pattern baldness initially as the hair regrows at the same pace as it minituarizes, but sooner or later the male pattern baldness will catch up without a DHT-inhibitor such as Propecia.
