it looks like early male pattern baldness to me, how is your crown?

which is normal for 80% of men to get some form of it in their lifetime

it looks like your temple hair is miniaturizing, but its hard to tell with your hair down

are the hairs in and around your temples less pigmented and thinning?

the question is how much do you care about keeping your hair you could opt for the big three for maintenance and possibly regrowth

i would suggest just finasteride for a year and evaluate your progress

you can always add others later down the road

good luck mate

finasteride could help with your temples but merck says it doesnt help with temple loss

the only thing i could suggest is the big 3 to maintain and possibly grow back more

finasteride alone has the potential to maintain what you currently have though

the question is do you want to make the LIFE LONG commitment of finasteride or possibly the big 3

i have to say applying min twice a day is a slight inconvenience but once you get used to it ........ it's not soo bad

taking finasteride is easy as long as you dont experience sides

experiencing sides are rare anyway

it wouldn't hurt if you started using nizoral 3 times a week though

cheers

Applying minoxidil twice a day is a pain and I always encourage those who don't need it to not jump on it right away, at least until it might look like they might need it. For me it's a pain because I have to arrange my showers around my Rogaine foam applications. It is also annoying because if you feel like working out and taking a shower afterwards, or if you are going someplace you might swim at. finasteride and Nizoral is easy as cake to commit to though, and it doesn't look like you need minoxidil yet.

Guys, we're talking to (probably) a total newb here.

nizoral = Nizoral, which is a shampoo that is recommended to be used 3 times per week. It helps stop DHT, which is a key element to hair loss. There's 1% and 2% strength available, which can be found in your local drug store / WalMart. 2% is known to be most effective.

Minoxidil aka Rogaine is offered in many percentages and varieties, such as liquid minoxidil and foam minoxidil. Most commonly distributed in 2% and 5%, and comes as high as 15%. Rogaine is most effective in men (in studies) at 5%. It's applied twice daily to your scalp (morning + night).

Finasteride, which is better known as Propecia is an oral pill that is taken once daily and blocks a type of DHT. Lots of people have success with this. Depending on your prescription, it can be costly, however, some people split their pills for a lower dosage and save money while getting nearly the same efficiency.

All 3 of these solutions have potential side effects, but in the vast majority of the population, it's pretty minimal.

Feel free to browse the boards and find more about these things, as we call them the "BIG 3".

I do Scalp Exercises on a daily basis, and some users, such as SE-Freak has had wonderful success.

Hope you find your way!

the big 3 is probably the best method of re growing and maintaining your existing hair

it's kind of an lifelong commitment though and your hair loss is not bad

finasteride is said by merk to not be effective in temple/hairline region although some get good results with finasteride alone and some dont

everyone is different
