I'm 48 and in menopause. I had my hormone levels tested before I went to see a doctor about bio-Identical replacement. My Estrogen Level was 21 and my Progesterone was 0.01. My testerstone level was also low, but since I was having so many problems with my hair over the last 24 months ( I have lost half of my density and the front of my head and on the side of my temples is very, very thin. In the front you can actually see my scalp) I told him not to prescribe any testosterone, since I did not want to make matters worse.

He put me on 100 mg of oral Prometrium (progesterone) and 5ML of Bi-Est (cream form from a compounding pharmacy). Well it has been 13 days since I started both and when I combed my hair today, I had a ton of hair come out. My shedding has increased a lot. Now my hair was already falling out over the last year as my hormone level began to drop, so now I'm freaking out and am stressed out like crazy. :(

I think that the Prometrium might be continuing to lower my estrogen level and as my estrogen level falls so does my hair. I do not think I'm estrogen dominance, so adding the progesterone at this stage with my estrogen level being so low is probably creating problems. I'm not sure and I need some advice. Can someone give me some insight if you've had a similar problem.
