Hi

I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis last year, I had like 2 patches of inflammation on my hairline (front + right side of the hairline) and my hair was thinning on these areas. It was easy to pull the hair off

I "treated" it with nizoral and selsun and my hair completely grew back withing a few months.

But everytime I find myself in a "sleep deprivation" situation, it triggers inflammation in some areas of my scalp and I lose my hair the next days....then it keeps growing back after a few months... it's always happening on very specific areas, mostly where there's inflammation.

Can someone tell me whats happening to me? surely it can't be seb derm??? I was told it could cause a telogen, but when I have this kind of inflammation, I don't have defuse thinning, it's always "localized"

I think you need to make an appointment with a dermatologist to get a professional diagnosis. I don't think anyone on here can accurately diagnose what form of hair loss you have. But I don't think you have seborrheic dermatitis because that doesn't normally cause hair loss. You could possibly have folliculitis.

thx for your reply. I've seen 3 dermatologists already and all 3 said I had seb derm (with psoriasis in the back of my head).

It's flakeless though...it used to be a yellow/whitish waxy layer of gunk on the scalp that could be easily scraped up with my nail.

If three dermatologists all diagnosed seb derm, I guess that must be what you have. Are you continuing to use the ketoconazole shampoo?

yeah I do, but to be fair it's not helping much.

The shampoo that really helped me the most was Selsun 2,5% but it's getting hard to find in Europe as it's now out of stock...not sure whats happening with the company
