hey guys,
i was shedding when i started using finpecia about 14 days ago but it was only from the top of my head. Now i'm loosing hair from the sides too. whats going on ??!! i'm really freaking out. the hair on top look thinner than usual too & i can see the scalp thru them :(
maybe i'm one of those guys where finastride does more harm than good. what should i do ?? anybody faced a similar situation ??

i don't know about Telogen Effluvium & stuff but today I lost the most hair than ever before in the shower today. that really depressed me
I'm seriously thinking of getting off of finpecia, atleast have watevr i can for as long as i can rather than accelerate towards D-day
wat r the realitic chances they'll grow back ? its not just big coarse hair but there were lots of thinner & smaller hair too !!

plz, any opinions would be really appreciated

Hairs of the side and the back of the head are normally not affected by male pattern baldness. So it is unlikely to be a shedding in your case.
Maybe it is something completely different. What was your hairloss before? Do you notice oily skin or anything else since taking Finasteride? Did you had your last shower 2 weeks ago?

I VERY strongly doubt that finpecia would have ANY effect whatsoever on your shed after just 14 days of use. The chemical normally takes months to build up in sufficient quantities in your system to start having any effect at all.

Me thinks you gots something else going on. Probably just a shed. You know, even non-male pattern baldness people go through sheds. They just don't fixate on them as much as us male pattern baldness sufferers do because they aren't as conscious about it.

Stick to your treatment and give it the required time to see results.

stick on your treatment and give it time. i started shedding after a week and a half on the stuff - i think an early "shock" shed is very possible.

chill out and stop being such a little girl. youve only been on it 14 days. if you get this scared every time you start a shed then boy youre in for a scary ride. just dont over analyse your hair - look at it again in a months time. and then every month from there on. day to day it will look different according to how you perceive it. shedded hair should regrow within a few months. just sit tight and know that 83% of men benefit from propecia. almost everyone has gone through these sheds youre experiencing.

patience and confidence are key. just keep taking it and dont worry for a while, then assess it later. hormones take time to build up in your bloodstream. you will see negative effects long before you see the long lasting positive ones. just remember, 83%

i doubt finasteride can do worse for your hair than good. im sure it always slows down hairloss. dht has been proven to have a negative effect on hair which is vulnerable to it, i.e. male pattern baldness vulnerable hair. and this reduces your dht levels. stick with it for at least a few months then reassess. you should be looking for thickening or regrow as far as 10 months away. your shedding should stabilise. stick with it.
