Eh, a part of me was in denial about saw palmetto making a dent into hairloss. It might help a bit but don't rely on it. Stinging nettle root, pumpkin seed oil, pyguem and beta sitosterol are supposed to maybe help. I take these supplements alongside finasteride so I wouldn't know how well they help.

minoxidil on it's own is unlikely to imo. Why isn't propecia an option?

Herbal treatments don't work. If they did work then the same rules would apply to a 16 year old taking propecia. Don't mess with your hormones. Likely at your age you may have some sort of deficiency in iron or vitamins. Go to a doctor tell him your concerns and have him do blood tests.

Although I do not take Saw Palm. and have never taken it, I have read the side effects are the exact same as Finasteride. It is used to treat BPH, but according to wikipedia, SP had no difference between placebo. SP supposedly may lower libido as a side effect, just like finasteride.

I've never been sold on it, so I never even tried it.

My male pattern baldness started at exactly his age, 15.

I tried Saw Palmetto for about a year with no results... I also tried Alpecin and a nightly head massage alongside it (at least 30 minutes, which was a chore).

I'm on month 2 of Propecia, Regaine and Nizoral and I am already seeing some small results.

I don't think herbal ones work, and if they do not to the degree the synthetic ones do. It's like the difference of drinking lemon juice versus taking Penicillin to kill bacteria.

Let's face it, if they worked in apparently the same way as finasteride, dutasteride etc. then people would experience the exact same side effects.

On top of that, people need to stop thinking "natural is better" because it's not in a lot of cases. Just because something is produced by nature does not mean it's good for you or works better than synthetic things.

If anyone would care to point me to an example of where a natural remedy has worked (with pictures, of course!) then I might change my opinion.

I usually recommend finasteride but 15 is too early, body still growing it can **** up the growth and other important things
