I just wanted to start off by saying;

Thanks to everyone who has posted on this site. (which I never knew existed). Your words, advice, and experiences are what brought me to this point.

I'm 32 years old, my first signs of losing my hair were around 17. I ignored it however, hoping it was just going to stop. It did not. As the years went by I didn't think it was that bad, around 25 or so, I started hearing from co-workers, friends, family "wow you're losing your hair". Thanks, I didn't even notice.. Still not sure why people even mention it, I don't go around saying "wow, you sure got fat, or damn, your teeth are crooked." I started to wear a hat everywhere I went. Even went as far as telling my wife I won't take family pictures without one lol.

Anyways fast forward to July 4th 2015
After reading thread after thread on this site, I decided to try minoxidil, luckily my wife is a licensed hair stylist so she gets discounts on my hair care products. She picked up Nioxin 5% minoxidil and nioxin 2 shampoo and conditioner.
I picked up some 450 MG saw palmetto, 5,000 mcg biotin with argon oil.

I read on a few threads that applying 4 times a day may increase results, so for the first month I applied minoxidil 4 times a day, 8am 12pm 4pm and 9pmish. Within 2 weeks I noticed Tons of vellus hair all over my scalp, which was pretty much bald. I found myself staring into the mirror literally counting hairs.. After the first month my left temple was filling in nicely, the right temple good, not great. I've kept my hair short since I started using minoxidil just to check progress.

So here we are at almost 2 full months of minoxidil at least twice a day, nizoral 1% 3 times a week, 450mg saw palmetto twice daily, 5,000 mcg biotin twice daily (sometimes I skip a day on the pills).

Hopefully the progress continues, I've not taken pro/finasteride/dutasteride

Should dump the nioxin if you havn't already, it's snake oils. Good job with the regrowth so far should think about adding finasteride/dutasteride to your regiment.

The shampoo and conditioner? Interesting. I do have a giant bottle of framesi hair follicle release shampoo not sure if that's any good. It was supposedly 80$ but the store was closing and the wife picked it up for 10$

Okay, any shampoo in particular that you recommend? I have some framesi hair follicle release shampoo also.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Just an update, I started treatment on July 4th 2015. I feel it's filling in nicely, hopefully the forelock fills in a bit more, I see more dark hairs sprouting so I have hope!

Edit: Obviously the before is on the right side.... Damn photo app.

male pattern baldness usually starts very young I'm guessing? I started thining out due to AAS, and I'm 37. Always had thick full hair.

Still at it.. Coming up on 3 full months of use. Chilling out on the biotin and saw palmetto for a bit. I'm starting to feel like my throat has pills stuck in it.. Not sure if it's a side effect of overdosing of something I'm taking.. Hope it's not the minoxidil! Kind of feels like I'm choking..

Anyways to the progress... I died my hair trying to darken the spots that weren't as thick..

Hey Gymshady,

your results are amazing!! Congratulations!! I'm totally thrilled for you! As I told someone else, I hope you are out there living and enjoying life without worrying about your hair, as you deserve to do. I just have a question for you, did you experience a "dread shed" when you first started using minoxidil?

PS - I <3 Eminem :)

thank you for all the kind words! I feel so much more comfortable now! It still looks thinning but I spike it up and nobody can really tell... I had a coworker say the other day "I thought you were bald?" Haha.

I haven't experienced a shed at all *knocks on wood*
Also I've dropped down to twice a day, most because my wife bitching about a 3 month supply gone in a month and a half lol.

The biotin is turning allllllll my hair dark and thicker, even my arms, not sure if I had a biotin deficiency or what.. I went from super light blonde to dark brown..

It looks amazing!! And you are lucky you didn't have an initial shed. You are a great responder!! I still can't even believe those results are from minoxidil alone.

Unbelievable. No treatment for nearly 15 years and then a bald and nice procrastinator (I say this affectionately) finally rises up from his candid complacency and rubs some slippery clear fluid on his scalp and after 40 days and 40 nights or so Voila!
A medical marvel you've become overnight.
Did I say UNBELIEVABLE?

I linked to this thread on a women's hair loss forum that I am a member of, as an example of how well minoxidil can work. Hope you don't mind.
