HI, can you guys give me opinions of my hairline? pics...

here, i'll be quick!
-worried about my hairline, mainly temples, started to notice i was losing hair 2 years ago.
-went on generic finasteride for about 5 months, thought i saw an improvement, but after a bit decided that i was over over exaggerating and decided to quit to not risk my health.

in the past 5 months or so, right temple has lost about a quarter inch of ground.

not sure if this is a mature hairline or receding. i have become really paranoid and sensitive about my hairline as im sure a lot of you have as well. i know my hair is in fairly decent shape, im not trying to rub anything in or show anything off, i am genuinely concerned for my temples as there are a LOT of Min hairs there that do not show up on camera, going backwards about an inch into my hair.

You have thick hair and what you have seen is a maturing of the hair line, to early to get on the meds, but use these pictures as a reference point in the future.

First of all, let me say that your hair looks amazing (I'm seriously jealous).

Now, I'm gonna be the dissenting opinion here and say that your temple hair does look *slightly* thinner than the rest of your hair. There could very well be miniaturization going on there.

How old are you? Check my thread in the "Tell your story" forum to see pics of my hair. About 3-4 years ago my hair looked exactly like yours, but my temples have slowly receded into a NW2 pattern. This might be happening to you as well, especially if you have noticed your hairline receding (however slight).

I ignored mine until it became obvious. It's a slow process and I doubt you will have any noticeable recession for atleast another 3-4 years, but if you want to keep your hair in the state it's in, then low dose finasteride would serve you well.

Remember, a "mature hairline" is active balding. It's sort of a BS term, because if you have no balding then you end up with a hairline like this:

That is not an average adult hairline, my hair was neve like that even as a kid. I was always a NW2. Just because you dont have a hairline like Reagan definatley does not mean you are balding.

You have amazing hair, but it can go before you know it, I had hair like that and it seemed like almost overnight I had lost my temples, followed by a slow decline in thickness before it got bad enough that I panicked and started treatment. Obviously dont let it get that far, just keep an eye on it, if you see your temples thinning, get on it. As it is, I'd say its fine, but only you can truly know.

im 24. thanks for the opinions. my temples have gone up about a quarter inch in the part two years, the min fuzz is there to prove it. i watched it happen. now deeper into my temples im finding min hairs. could just be normal thinning along with a more mature hairline, i dont know. but im self conscious about my temples...

Your hair looks great, you're 24? That hair would look good even for a 19 year old.

Some start talking about mature hairlines which really would mean a Norwood 7 is just someone who had a hairline that matured a lot more then most peoples. I think thats kind of a BS excuse to say some hairloss happens and we do not know why and give up trying to figure it out. You know more then anyone on here. If you think you have lost hair just do something about it asking people will just confuse you.

dude hairlines change with age.
it just doesnt mean you are going bald. thats what a mature hairline means. i dont know why people think its BS that a mans hairline changes as he ages. Sure it doesnt happen in all, and ive begun to really take notice of how hollywood refuses to hire actors anymore unless they have a NW0 or NW1 which makes us all think that any thing worse is balding..when in fact i bet plenty of actors are getting work done even if their not balding, just to maintain that juvenile hairline.

As for a mature hairline - it's not a bullshit concept. Why the f*** would you call something 'balding' which isn't? Balding is a continous process. A mature hairline isn't. It's hairloss in a very literal sense but they're not going bald.

If you look at it that way - Bradd Pitt was balding when he was 28. Why? Because if you add up the total of every single strand of his hair to the nearest micrometre and count every strand of hair, i bet it would be less than his hair volume at 20. - Hair loss - Balding!!! Yes? NO. Let's not be silly....

I dont get this maturing hairline idea , I guess since DHT increases with age it attacks the most sensitive hairs (temporal) and slowly (very) kills them. Otherwise to me it just doesn't make sense why the hairs would fall out because he's getting older. Is he not just very very slowly going bald?

I think that's the basic concept, but the rest of his hair has high resistance to DHT - It may never fall out, or fall out in 40 years time. So a mature hairline does not mean that you will go bald - So why call it balding if he's not currently losing hair (After his hairline has matured)

It would be like calling a 10 year old kid balding as he might start balding when he's 40. Silly as he's not balding at the moment...
