Hi all. My name's Alex. I'm almost 30 now and as of the last year or two have noticed a receeding hairline aswell as hair thinning out generally all-over, especially near front of scalp. One side looks like its going faster than the other!! Compared to some of the other stories on here I know mine is nothing much but hoping to learn from other posters and get some ideas on what to try next to slow down this procedure and hopefully get some hair back too..

So far I have used:

Regaine (UK name for 'Rogaine') liquid - not foam - 3/4 months last summer, no difference as far as I can tell
Saw Palmetto - a month, had to discontinue as it gave me acne!!
Vitamin E, Vitamin A, B3, B12 vitamins etc
Currently take 1000mg of Vitamin C daily & Nourkrin 'Extra Strength' as of the last two months. Got just over 5 weeks to go before my 3 month course is finished. Haven't noticed any difference so far but not given up yet!! It says it takes 3 months approx to notice a difference..

Will update with info as and when I can and how I progress with current regime. :)

Sounds like pretty much the same situation as mine and at the same age too. Have you considered Finasteride? I'd say those vitamins are very unlikely to halt your hair loss.

Agreed; those Nourkrin tablets are a waste of money and won't do a thing for your hair.

Believe it or not I have never heard of 'Finasteride'! Is it something you have tried or would you recommend it?

Finasteride is Propecia and is pretty much the only thing that effectively stop the progression of hairloss.

Thankyou Naltima :) I might just give this a try once I get to the end of my Nourkrin course. Hopefully it doesn't have side effects, I would prefer something natural but so far natural hasn't made much of a difference :(

Hey!

Don't be fooled by 'natural alternatives.' They are not necessarily safer or better for you; everything comes from somewhere.

In the wise words of Tim Minchin, "Alternative Medicine has either not been proved to work, or been proved not to work. You know what they call "alternative medicine" that's been proved to work? Medicine."

^ exactly. Wise words.

Nourkrin isn't proven to work. The only study of the product's effectiveness was carried out by the manufacturers, which should already sound alarm bells. It also has no anti-DHT properties, as found in 5a-reductase inhibitors, so cannot have any effect tackling male pattern hair loss.

Thanks for the above guys. Agree; wise words indeed! What drew me to Nourkrin was some of the reviews online. I know it's all a case of trial and error. You use one thing, find it doesn't work as promised and move onto the next! Well just a few weeks and the verdict will be in. Some things you have to give the required amount of time otherwise you will never know. Hmm let's see...

Those reviews were most likely planted by Nourkrin's manufacturer. Seriously, it won't halt or slightly reverse hair loss, you're on a hiding to nothing popping very overpriced vitamin tablets without using the proven medications and treatments.

Thought I'd fill you guys in on what's been going on, now that i've reached the end of the Nourkrin course. Well? I can't say its done anything, it might have stopped a little hair loss, if any but nothing has grown back. The results are not really even noticeable :(

I have given it the 3 months it says are needed on the package. Maybe just my luck! Worse still I've noticed the crown area of my hair has thinned BEYOND BELIEF. I don't think it has anything to do with the tabs, I just didn't hold a mirror behind me and look at that area until yesterday! Now I don't know what the hell to do. Still nowhere near finding a cure :(

No "natural" product is going to stop your hair loss. Believe me. I did the same thing when I started losing my hair at the age of 22 (25 now). I took saw palmetto, i took vitamins, i tried everything I read online from taking a ton of natural supplements to massaging my scalp to standing on my head every night after reading that increasing blood flow would stop my hair loss (which is bullshit). I even spent $500 on a "laser comb" because it claimed to stop hair loss naturally. Its all BS

The only way to stop your hair loss and possibly grow some hair back is to take Finasteride (sold under the brand name Propecia, or Proscar) You should take 1mg a day. Personally, Propecia is too expensive for me so I buy a generic version from an online pharmacy that is made by a big company in India (inhousepharmacy.biz is the site..the product is Finpecia, and yes it is legit).

Cheers Chris! Seems like you've tried most the things i have... although I haven't (yet) stood on my head lol! its just offputting seeing the risks associated with things that are not natural...but then again i might be one of the lucky few that don't see the side effects. hmmmm will have to look into it. got to do something about my hair pronto!! thanks for link. Can I ask how long it took to get the generic version? Is it just made in India or made there but shipped from somewhere nearer i.e europe? If so im guessing it wont take too long to get it in post ...cheers! :)

Believe me, I'm like you...I'm a total health nut...I tried every single supplement under the sun that said it helped hair online.

I don't remember where they ship from. I'm in the states and I got mine within 7 days.

But then, hair loss itself is "natural", and by fighting it you are doing something inherently "not natural". :) Heck, vitamin tabs aren't exactly natural either, and if you've taken any medications, whether prescription or over-the-counter meds like Aspirin, you've imbedded something artificial.

but then again i might be one of the lucky few that don't see the side effects.
Well, statistically speaking, you'll be in the majority if you don't have sides. :)

Thanks Kirby! Reassuring to know. Hopefully I should be amongst the majority without side effects. Fingers crossed. Placed my order, can't wait to give it a try!!

Any idea how long it takes to see results? :)

Just an update, sorry its been a while folks. I tried Finasteride for a couple of months but gave up due to the side-effects. It is a shame as it only cost me £5 exactly, I booked to see a derm on Harley Street, in London who prescribed 28 x 5mg tablets which cut into quarters would last 4 months!! So I cancelled my online order and went with that as miles cheaper. Maintenence would have come to just over £1 a month which is a flippin' bargain!!!! I don't think I pay anything monthly that can compare to that! If only it hadn't caused sides :(

Anyhows, on the upside, I ordered something online called 'Divine Herbal Hair Oil' which has done the trick without any side effects and I'm only on week 4 of using with some signs of new hair growth on crown area. I won't be going back to finasteride lol so if anyone wants a cpl months worth pls send me a PM. First come first served basis. :)

Not been on here for a while but thought I'd upload some images to give you an idea of the progress so far hich has been pretty good. Here's some before 001.jpgbefore 007.jpg 'before's' taken from earlier this year...

Here are someafter 003.jpgafter 005.jpg after pics taken in August. So far so good, have not used the Divine oil for over a month but results the same and thankfully no hair loss - as far as I can tell, since stopping.
