Hi guys, Could you please tell me how you apply your spironolactone??

I have a feeling I am applyin mine wrong. COncerning the cream 5% stuff, how do you apply it?? I want to make sure it is getting to the scalp obviously. I am sure alot gets absorbed into the hair before it gets to the scalp which is no good!

Do you use much of it when applying and do you do it very carefully?

Unless you're only using it on the temples or hairline, I think you need to have very short hair to effectively apply spironolactone anywhere else. My suggestion to you if your hair is longer, is to either use the liquid version or if you insist on the 5%, apply it to a damp scalp to help with absorption. Personally, I find it difficult to apply it to the top of my head if my hair is longer than an inch.

Yes. I actually spray my scalp with a thin coat of 2% minoxidil about 30 minutes before my spironolactone application to assist absorption of the cream. Dr Lee also recommends an application of spironolactone on top of minoxidil to assist both with aborption. You will get an unpleasant smell from this as the two chemicals react with one another, but from my understanding it will not degrade the quality of the medication for quite some time after application so a loss of efficacy should not be a concern.

the only problem i see with using the liquid is it is supposed to smell more and it is only 2%. What r ur thoughts on this beaner?

Do you beleive spironolactone can cause sheds also and could it be as good as propecia in the long run?

Well, I've heard that about the smell, but I've used the 2% liquid before and never smelled anything. I think the smell comes from the spironolactone/minoxidil combo if used close together. If you use the liquid separate from minoxidil by an hour or two you shouldn't get a smell. The 2% dries very quickly.

I don't believe spironolactone will cause sheds, as far as it being as good as propecia in the long run.......well I do believe topical spironolactone does work to a certain degree and you'll need to stick it out and not give up in 3 months, but I certainly have my doubts that it is as effective as propecia. It probably isn't, but better than nothing.

How come the liquid is only 2 percent then please? I havent tried it as of yet.

I make my own 3% spironolactone cream and it doesn't smell. It's more stable in a neutral ph cream vehicle than an alcohol based vehicle. I have my head shaved which makes the cream easy to apply in a thin layer 2-3 times daily. I apply it after a minoxidil application.

I put on some nice music, light some candles and then get started. I think it gets absorbed better if I do some sit-ups half an hour before I start. Maybe it gets the blood flow in my scalp going which triggers the dhts to start seperating from the wnts and forming 5af alpha beta.

I recommend you use the 5% cream. The cream proved to be more effective in a study. Bryan had posted this somewhere but i am to lazy to search for it atm.

Try to part your hair and aply a thin layer. You dont have to put it EVERYWHERE since it works under the skin. Of course it is much easier when you have short hair.

I think i will add it back to my regimen. I experienced the best results while i was in the big4 (big3+spironolactone).
