I've been taking 200-400 mg a night for sleep on and off for about 2 years. I read that it can cause hairloss alopecia. I have thinning hair everywhere including a very small balding spot in a male pattern baldness spot. Could that go away if I stop that medication? I stopped this medicatoon 3 days ago according to the internet it can cause hair loss so I'm wondering if it could account for mine. ive had pelvic pain for 7 years and lack for on and off during that time. also stress was very high. i am now managing my stress

no

because it's in an male pattern baldness spot

when they just say "alopecia" they usually refer to hair thinning in general, it's not connected to male pattern baldness

prolly just a coincidence

if anything benadryl would HELP it because benadryl is an anti-inflammatory like nizoral
yeah its thinning in general but I also see some thinning there as well. According to google it can cause thinning in general

bump to find out what others think. i looked back and found out id been taking a ton since at least 2007. it peaked around 400-600 a night and remained around there up until i kicked the pills about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I currently abuse diphenhydramine and it is the prime suspect of rapid thinning of normally thick hair. I am going to post a before after pic/discussion on my propossed resolve. I just started tonight so "after" pics arnt in, it will be a cliff hanger. I would do it now but this sight said I would be restricted for a bit to stop solicitation. I will also be posting on hair restoration network under "dawgrit"
