6m isn't really all that much in the scheme of investments. But if it keeps the research and trials going until it can be commercialised, then great!
I wonder will they license it in China? It may actually be cheaper to get it done there...

You'd be surprised at the size of China's middle class (300-400m), and comparable cost of living in major cities compared to the west anymore. I'm not sure in a country of so many people will be hurting to pay a lot.
