Shiseido is injecting culture Dermal Sheath Cup cells, these cells actually encapsulate the dermal papilla in a follicle and convert into dermal papilla cells (which then convert back to DSC cells and round and round it goes). The theory is that the DSC cells will migrate to miniaturized follicles and revive them to their original state; the more dermal papilla cells in a follicle, the bigger the hair fibre that grows from it (essentially). So, injecting more DSC cells that should convert into DP cells means it restores things to their original state pre-balding; IN THEORY.

Won't DHT just destroy the DP cells again? Or are the Dermal Sheath Cup cells immune to DHT? Is that what Tsuji means when he talks about 'hard' and 'soft' hairs?

Won't matter. Just get more injections if anything.

But that costs time and money D:

It is better than nothing though.

...I wonder if you could transplant heaps of permanent stem cell hairs into your scalp before losing your current ones so that you could just treat baldness in one block of transplants before going through the humiliation of losing it all. I know they're looking into a top up system, but it's already expensive to store semen, and even then up to half of them don't survive freezing.

Anyway, I was just interested because I remember someone saying that they could go to Japan in 2018, get immunised against hair loss at Shiseido and then come back in three years or so to get their hairline rebuilt.

I think it's really too early to tell what the actual effect of replicel will be in the end. I believe in them but there's no 100% proof that they have a 'functional cure' like they say they do. They have only had phase 1 trials which demonstrated their safety but not the efficacy. We will know soon enough what results Shiseido's trials will bring.

Dr. Gail Naughton is a speaker for this meeting. And Perhaps we could learn more about their trials.
Mark Hubka is a speaker too.

I really hope they've already started trials and that they'll announce their timeline for release.

althought in 2014 she talked about hair regeneration

Good luck to Mrs Gail K. Naughton, Ph.D., CEO, Chairman of the Board, in FL.

But I don't see her speech date and name of the presentation.

edit.
sorry
I have just seen that Mark A. Hubka, MD is involved with Histogen
