hi guys,

I respond very bad to the ethanol in minoxidil (tried also the foligain n5, now i use lipogaine), so basically I get a lot of inflammation, dry red flaky skin. My believe is that you should avoid this in order to maintain your hairs. With nanoxidil I dont have this but I am a not sure this stuff actually works....

Now I came across an old post on internet where this guy evaporates the ethanol. Anyone tried this?

btw Apparantly youcan heat it up to 248 degrees celcius

Aquagaine sounds interesting, but.... proprietary DHT blockers? Well I would like to know what they are...

I recently started using minoxidil from Freshman, they have an alcohol-free formulation. I get dry scalp and dandruff from ethanol and propylene glycol in rogaine, but I don't have the same issue from the the alcohol free one.

Rogaine is 95% ethanol, 5% minoxidil. That's why I switched over to the alcohol-free stuff from Freshman, because the ethanol was drying out my scalp and giving me dandruff.

Minoxidil is water insoluble and requires a non-aqueous carrier in order to be absorbed. There are only three known tested carriers for minoxidil - alcohol, propylene glycol, and glycerin. Do you know which one Freshman uses? I can't find this info on Freshman's website. Perhaps I overlooked. If not, then it is very fishy that the manufacturer does not disclose such info. This is very important because glycerin-based products (assuming this is what you are referring if you are saying it is alcohol free) are very messy to use, take a long time to dry, and result in much poorer absorption of minoxidil.

@timidhair I was also sceptical at first, but the product works well and absorbs quickly. Their liquid is based on essential oils, but is non-greasy and smells nice. There's a patent behind it and it has been proven to work in alopecia treatments

Hey guys,

I am also looking for a minoxidil that doesn't itch my scalp. I tried 3 different kinds already but no result. I wanted to buy the 'freshman minoxodil' but it doesn't accept my postal code (3590). I am from belgium so it is probably different from UK/USA and it doesn't recognize it. Anyone had this problem?
