Okay so i started with temple reccesion at 16, it seems to be improving now (not past a nw2 yet). Lately the top of my head started thining a bit, as well as the overall condition of my hair got thinner (i dont know if its from overshampooing causing it to get all dry and nasty - i twas usually quite oiley).

But now i am thinning at the sideburn area, the nw7 area, the back of my head (quite a ways Under the usual baldspot area). the overall right side of my head is significantly more thinned than the left, and what do you know the right side of my beard is significantly thicker as well.

This pic best illustrates it

Im quite certain its male pattern baldness but why is it so weird? Its really becoming a pain because my hair looks fucked up on the sides when it grows anywhere past buzzed.
Can anyone relate?

wtf indeed.... to be honest i'm kind of tired of hearing about this problem though. it seems reletively common for people to thin all over the head but to me that is so stupid. It's not even male pattern baldness it's something else that probably needs special attention

Its Balding but perhaps not in the male pattern. I dont have a f*****g clue how bad it'll get though; i thought the horeshoe was more or less immune to thinning, and yet im getting the MOST thinning there....(believe it or not, my front widows peak is the thickest part of my head).

diffuse unpatterned alopecia. your back and sides thin too, and become almost transparent. it's just incredibly messy male pattern baldness.

that's my guess. i'd see a Doctor though.

yeah i was thinking it was the diffuse unpatterned one too, all the docs ive been too know less than me on the subject of hairloss; im going to have to schedule an appointment with a hair transplanter. Things look grim O_O but i am definetly the first member of my family (at least in a few generations) to have this.

when i shampoo my hair i can feel that the sides are significantly more greasy than the top or the front.

my right side is also thinning more.. anyways if your hair is really greasy thats Not good. Oils build up and cause dht, block blood flow, etc. You need to get your hair non greasy. Nioxin works well, H&S, and especially, Nisim for oily hair. It combats DHT, provides a nourishment place for hair to grow, and has two kinds normal to dry hair, and normal to oily hair.

Id get this nisim asap, (eBay)

nioxin works well to at stoping oily hair, i had oily hair before using this stuff, now I dont. Some people complain it dries up ther hair, but for me, and probably other oily hair people, it "dries" it up or removes enough oil to make the hair just right..

You need to stop oily hair at all costs..

oil doesnt cause male pattern baldness but im sure if your hair is constantly greasy that the DHT within the grease detiorates your hair faster than if your scalp is clean.

I wash with nizoral every 2-3 days and my sides are greasy every wash. quite lame lol i think im fucked. But id rather loose my sides than the top seeing as how i can just get a fade

I've noticed that I'm thinner on my right hand side aswell. Weird... it also seems that I got more beard on the left side (wouldn't call it thick over there either, but thicker). It's f*****g strange... I also tend to get more fat on the left side of my body, I think these things must be related.

barcafan, you aren't becoming Taugenichts are you?

You are a great looking guy with a great smile (said in a non-gay way). The buzz cut suits you.

Do you have any pics that show the thinning you are talking about? I can't really tell from your buzz cut pics.

Can you fill out your regimen so we can more easily tell what your are doing?

that guys hair isnt even oily...you only took that pic because he looks like a bum. if he was clean shaven you wouldnt associate his hair with being oily.

thanks for the compliment but the overall condition of my hair is royally fucked, its all dry and thin and brittle than it was say 2 years ago.. Having it anywhere past like 2 cm will make it look like dogshit. The thinning is above the sideburns, on the back of my hair (right near the neck).

Now some thinning on the top and temporal reccesion. As well as just overall thinning. Maybe its a shed, ive been on finasteride+minoxidil for a few months now.
It's funny actually, they say the less greasy your hair is, the better it is (if you have male pattern baldness that is) but for me my hair looked thicker when it was more greasy but now that im treating male pattern baldness it looks thinner since the grease is gone.

Anywho im not giving up *yet* seeing as how i should let the big do their work for another 6 months or so.

I'd say stick with the big 3, eat right, and try not to worry too much. Worry can only exascerbate the problem.

Are you taking any vitamins and supplements? Your brittle hair makes me wonder if your diet is lacking somewhere. Are you seeing a dermatologist? A real doctor would be better for diet advice.

I don't have brittle hair. Mine is naturally baby fine. I credit Propecia with thickening and darkening my hair. It looks much healthier now. The change was very dramatic for me.

I started taking flax seed oil and eating walnuts for omega 3 oils months after starting Propecia. My theory behind getting some omega 3 is that my western diet is severely lacking in omega 3. Since the Japanese don't seem to suffer from balding as much as we do in the U.S. I figured it was a good idea. I could take fish oils, but I want to avoid processed fish products (for some reason it makes me think of the show "Dirty Jobs").

If baldness runs in your family then you have to be mentally prepared for that too. Stick with Finasteride to slow that down. Don't worry too much about a receding hairline. That happens to most guys. In my late twenties my hairline receded so fast I thought I could put a speedometer on it. I think it receded a half inch in one year. It stabilized though, thank goodness!

I think my diet is fine, not the best but i dont eat junk food or drink pop (like ever) so i doubt that's the issue, plus i pretty much play sports every day for a couple hours. Baldness is very prevalent in my family and im well aware of that (Except my jerk brother who's 6 years older and has no signs :freaked2: )
