How Advanced Is My Receding Hairline? (pics)..

Hi folks, just recently started getting worried about my hairline. I'm 42 years old and always thought of my hairline as mature and actually kind of liked it.

Recently, I was under a lot of stress and one night before a big presentation I ate a big bowl fruit (lol), only to feel my scalp tingle with a sensation like pins and needles all over. This sensation lasted a couple of weeks and over this time I noticed my hairline had receded quite quickly.

Getting very paranoid and depressed about it. Any advice would be appreciated... IMG_20190518_154940.jpg IMG_20190518_154821.jpg IMG_20190518_154703.jpg

It's definitely very receded, but it's nothing unusual for your age and it, judging from the little we see in the pics, it looks good on you. Looks like it might be thinning at the top, but no bald spot or anything.

If you're worried about extremely rapid recession, go to a doctor. But to be honest, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Hair loss? Sure. But in your forties that's definitely to be expected, and it seems to look good on you still.

Youre Norwood 3. You can get a hair transplant but go and do alot of research on this. Go with a good surgeon.

Thanks for pointing out the positives, yeah, I think I need some reassurance. Its not so much about looks, but more about giving away my age which I'm not fully comfortable with. I shave the top a little tighter to give my head a better shape, so it is not really thinning at the top. Its just that my hairline seems to be slowly creeping back and the funny thing is that I only really noticed about 2 months ago when I felt the tingling sensations all over my scalp.

I mentioned the tingling sensations caused by the large fruit bowl I ate because a lot of fruits have high estrogen content in the form of phytoestrogens. Estrogen is an endocrine disruptor, especially for men, so I am assuming that it triggered a response somewhere in the hpta which caused an increase in DHT around the follicles (just a theory).

Thanks bro, yeah I was a Norwood 2 until recently, then that sudden bout of hair loss led to Norwood 3. Not sure about surgery yet, would need to check prices for cost/benefit ratio.

Fruit will have no effect on your hair. The estrogens in plant foods barely have any effect on your hormones, especially compared to dairy for example

I beg to differ... although the evidence may not support it, I definitely felt my scalp very strange and had an overall strange feeling which I can relate back to times when I had triggered high estrogen levels. May not have directly been the fruit, may have been a chemical in or on the fruit, but I would surmise that the incidents are related... too coincidental not to be as I started feeling strange about half an hour after eating the fruit.
