How am I on the Norwood scale? [pictures] 16 years old

Finally took some better pictures of my hair: https://imgur.com/a/ddoLx

Where would I be on the Norwood scale?

Am I just receding at the hairline or should I start applying minxodil on the crown too?
Also,I apply minoxidil on the top of my head too because when I run my hand thourgh my hair I get some hairs in it,should I only apply it at the hairline or should I continue applying it on the top of my head too?

I'll roughly estimate that you're a Norwood 1.5 cocojambo.

It looks like your hairline has receded a bit. How long have you been using Minoxidil? If you haven't been on Minoxidil for a very long time, I'd probably drop it and just get on Finasteride if you're not on that treatment. You could stay on Minoxidil, though it's probably not needed in your case.

Thanks nicafella!

Agustin,I've been using minoxidil for about 1 week,I wish with passion that I could start finasteride but I'm only 16 years old, what would you advise me to do?

Age 16? That's how old I was when I started balding.

Here's what I suggest: Go make an appointment to see a hair transplant doctor, they're the doctors who really know about hair loss. Get checked for Male Pattern Baldness, and if you do have the condition, find out if you can qualify to start taking Finasteride at 16 since by law you have to be 18 years of age or older. There have been men on here who started taking Finasteride at age 16/17 without any problems. Make saving your hair a first priority if you want to keep it. Time won't be on your side if you're prone to balding, so get on the medication ASAP if you actually are.

No problem! Agustin is right but I would be super safe in starting finasteride before 18. Hair is important and I'm on finasteride myself, but definitely use it after you've fully grown. minoxidil is a must, maybe a higher % of minoxidil?

I'll try to go to a hair transplant specialist then Agustin, thanks for your advice.
The thing is...no one in my family is bald, not even a NW2( well, maybe my great grandfather from my mothers side who was a NW2 when he died at 70 years).

I hesitate to get on finasteride not because of potential sides(read they're rare and most subside after discontinuing the drug) but the normal development of the body,as in getting that more masculine face as I age,do you know if I could develop at least decently while on finasteride? Because I'd rather have smaller lips and fatter cheecks than be bald .

--update--

Nicfella, sadly, getting a higher dose of minoxidil in my country is pretty hard to do.

Starting to think people don't know what male pattern baldness is around here.

That's clearly a NW2.

OP you're balding... monitor your hair closely.

Get on finasteride at 18

Dabble around with the topical dht inhibitors. They may help I generally find they don't do much of anything. Azelic acid, s5 cream to name a couple.

Guys...I found a photo of me from when I was 10...I'm very happy right now :))

Is it just me or does it look like I was rocking almost the same hairline?(might be optimistic)

- - - Updated - - -

Just took a shower, about 40 hairs fell from applying shampoo and from what I found on the towel + what I found in my hand after I ran it thourgh my hair,at least 10-ish of the hairs that fell were from the back and sides of my head, what's up with that? I tought male pattern baldness only affected the top of the head.

So guys, seeing my old hair gave me hope that I might not be balding, comparing my old hairline and actual hairline and taking in cosideration the hair lost in the shower,do you guys think I'm balding?

hairline looks fine to me tbh, the fact you had a similar hairline when you were a kid just shows that some people truly are just born with hairlines that are not norwood 0. I was the same way, always had a high hairline in fact our hairlines are identical. When I was 18 I thought I was losing my hair because I first became aware of this whole hairline business. People on here told me I was losing my hair, I am now 27 and I my hairline hasn't moved at all in fact I am not losing my hair. I'd say you are in the same boat, but keep an eye on it at least but do not stress, you are fine.

I've always had a super high hairline too, even as a kid. At about 20 I started panicking about male pattern baldness then I realised everything was okay, I had the same hairline more or less that I had as a kid. So I don't think about male pattern baldness for a long time. Then when I was 26-27 I realised I was a diffuse thinning NW3 because I just wasn't paying attention.

Don't make the same mistake. You may well be okay, or you may have early signs of male pattern baldness. Go see a hair loss specialist/transplant doctor, have them assess you. Monitor your hairline every year, stay vigilant.

Thanks,I'm planning on visit with a hair transplant doctor so I can finally get(or not,I guess) this off my head because it's kinda consuming me atm.

Is your dad bald? Once again, just because you are a Norwood 2 does not mean you are balding. Your hairloss could stop there. My dad has been a NW2 since almost birth and still has hair at 60

My dad is a NW1 at 40 years old...but my entire family kinda is NW1 so yeah...

What's also concerning to me is that on my temples i got some white, short hair, isn't that miniaturizing hair,a sign of male pattern baldness?

cocojambo, you may prominently have a naturally high hairline, especially after looking at the picture of your hair when you were 10 years old. It looks good.

Definitely get checked for male pattern baldness if there's more hair falling out in the shower than usual.

Thanks for your reply Agustin,I will meet with a hair transplant doctor so I can hopefully get this over with,to be honest,my hair has been falling like this in the shower for a long time,at least from when I was 15 years (might have/probably was falling like this for a lot longer),it's just that I never gave it importance(though that might just be me balding as a 14-15 year old).

Yes, way to go cocojambo. :)

Definitely meet with a hair transplant surgeon and get checked for Male Pattern Baldness. Hopefully you don't have it. If you do, then find out if you can get on Finasteride at 16, yes it's pushing at that age, though you should be fine like most who get on the medication at that age.

Balding can start at 14/15 years of age, it can start as early as age 12 in humans from what science has proven.
