How Bad Is My Hair Loss? Should I Start Propecia?

Today I checked my hair and was shocked. I didn't think it was that bad. I usually have a comb over so I've only ever seen recession on one side and not much on the other side. But I looked at it earlier and it looks terrible when pulled back to reveal the real hairline. As you can see it is way worse on my left side and my hairline is thinning badly in the middle of my forehead.

I think I'm gonna start Propecia but im worried about these sexual side effects people go on about. What are your thoughts? Will my hair line regrow Into a normal hairline again? How prevalent are these effects? What am I on the Norwood scale?

1) You should be fine on finasteride (Propecia) - the sexual side-effects are vastly overstated on the Internet (as you'd expect!). Don't let that worry you, although be objective and see how you get on. Chances are, you'll be fine.

2) You may regrow the hair but that's fairly unlikely, especially to your original hairline/ level of density. The best you can hope for is maintenance and an improvement in the appearance and general condition of the existing hair.

3) I would say NW2.
