Hey

I recently buzz cut my hair off, its been growing for a week or so now and I was wondering how bad my thinning is

(the baldspot in the back of my head is an old scar)

Im thinking of starting with minoxidil today and try to get finasteride prescribed (mind you, its hard.) do you think I should start with that right now?

Vertex is thinning. Those products work on vertex best. I think you're in luck. I would start.

You are a perfect candidate for finasteride and minoxidil. Manageable vertex thinning is often partially reversible with this combination, especially if you don't wear your hair too long. With concealers you are almost guaranteed to enjoy a full head of hair when you need for decades.
Receders like me do best with finasteride followed by a hair transplant and should stay away from minoxidil. No situation is better than the other but your first line of attack should be different I guess. On the other hand a hair transplant is very tough on someone with your male pattern baldness characteristics.

If finasteride is that hard to get legally, just buy it online! But stay positive, even if you just made the ghastly realization that you were balding. Your case is okay and I'm sure you'll be a good responder. There are some awful cases on this forum, stick aroung you'll see!

Hey thanks for the replies, I've started minoxidil today and will start finasteride whenever I get my hands on it.

Assemblage23, my hairline is receding aswell, not sure if it's on any norwood scale yet but I have def noticed receding.

Also, how fast should I experience shedding on minoxidil and will it be clearly noticeable?

the chin to hairline test reaches my hairline exactly, although It's more my temples that are receding rather than my entire hairline.

Is this a better angle for the hairline?

Also uploaded an older one from when my hair was long. (month ago)

Thinning but still enough ground to work with. I suggest growing it out.

Buzz is usually a last resort whe your hair simply looks like sh*t at all varying lengths.

I'm a drastic person so I just buzzed it all off.

I'll grow it out and start minoxidil to see how that works out for my vertex, my only concern is that the initial shedding will really make my hair loss noticeable.

How did your vertex look with longer hair?

Also, the minoxidil I'm using is liquid (50mg/ml) the box says to apply it twice per day using 10 sprays on the affected areas (2ml totally) is that enough or should the dose be upped?

I shed from minoxidil after the first 3 weeks of use. It made my hairloss extremely noticeable when before it was just slight thinning.

Your situation seems better than I expected. finasteride alone could do. minoxidil is a hassle and does trigger a nasty shed.

Yeah im not so sure of min anymore after getting crazy redness on my forehead thats been there for 2 days now + palpitations after use. (no redness on scalp only forehead, guess some went down there.)
+ red and watery eyes.

Will I still shed after only using min 2 times?
