not bad. you are a NW2 with ongoing minaturizatin in the temples for about an inch. If you apply minoxidil, put some in your temples. You have enough hair that you can easily keep it if you start finasteride soon.

How long have you been like that? how long ago was your hairline and temples 1/4 further forward? if it was less than a year, you really should look into some stronger treatments that can regrow that hair.

1-2 years about I still had my "juvenile" hairline. I actually just started finasteride (literally yesterday) and I'm willing to try minoxidil too but I'm worried about the face bloating, etc

just don't use too much minoxidil. get the 5% and dilute it with isopropyl alcohol 50%. 5% grows more hair in the short run, but I've seen studies that show the 2% does about as well in the long run. I'll apply 2-3mL of the diluted stuff to my whole top once a day and 0.75 mL to my thinnest areas 12 hours later. this way i save money and don't risk side effects. i also recommend disolving 1/4 mL of oil in your bottle, just so the alcohol does not dry your skin as bad.

juvenille hair lines look good. docs just say the higher ones are better because know they can't give the low ones to people and they want you to think the surgery can achieve closer to ideal results. they help, but surgery is not good enough.

measure the distance from the bottom of the tip of you nose to the lateral middle/ vertical top of your eyebrow, and from that second point to your hair line. ideally, the second distance should be about 80% the first distance, give or take. Any ratio under 70% looks like a caveman, and any ratio over 100% looks very bald. Brad Pit has a 100% ratio, but he looks good because of his thick hair, and his sides come in close. you don't want your sides as close as his, but he looks good. they should outside yoru eyebrows, not inside them.

Depends on what you consider "bad in shape". Imo one should start treatment before hair loss get noticeable to others. Yours can be recognized even by the untrained eye hence i would say you are "not so good in shape". Of course compared to a Norwood 7 your hair is still fine and is definetly worth the struggle to keep it. Just my view!

Good Luck!

everyone knows you don't have the ideal 18 year old hair line, but you still blend in with the 26 year olds. no one thinks you are balding yet. they might think your hair is a bit receded.

if you are a great responder (5% of men), propecia a lone might regrow your hair line. I think you should put some SOD's on your hiar line. Get prox-N at even Proxiphen at http://www.drproctor.com. Only use the proxiphen on the skin below your hairline, and just 1/4 inch into your temples on the thinner hairs. It is $100 for 25mL of cream, but you can go very light and easily spread 1/5 mL or less over this area each day, which will last you 5 months. It is skin colored and is absorbed well so it won't give you cosmet propblems. Use the Prox-N just on the hair 1 inch from the hairline, once a day, 8 drops a day, which will last you 8 months for $59 (or get it for $32 at lef.org, though diluted). Then use your choice of diluted folligen, tricomin, or american crew revitalizing spray, 2mL EOD on the rest of your head for maintainance. All of these are pretty cheap this way, though the folligen is dirt cheap. The proxiphen is just intense treatment for this kind of thing. You might not need it later when the hair grows out, though you will at least need CPs, probably in the Prox-N EOD for your hairline.

me doing tht ratio quickly, gave me 7cm from tip of nose to the eyebrow thing, and 6 cm from there to my middle hairline.

Can I suggest to trim your bangs a bit... just snip it so your hairs along your hairline are aligned. It may make your forehead look a bit bigger, but it'll lessen the appearance of a receding/thinning hairline.

As to treatments, if I were you, I would get on minoxidil right away. My hairline was like yours before treatment (a little less receded, but I had an island formation coming in). Well within about 2 months of starting minoxidil I noticed it was helping in thickening up the thinning areas up front and I no longer had the island formation, or at the very least, it's less obvious. It hasn't helped in reviving my temples and I think I may have receded at tiny bit above the right temple, but I'm still glad I started using it.

Not sure about the puffy face thing, but I do notice I've been getting bags under my eyes.... which sucks. And I do notice my forehead lines are a little more prominent... which also sucks.

But even with those side effects, I still think it's been worth it.......

Rogaine is good, but I used it only 2 months and then quit.

It made my hair full of crap, dandruff, and that white layer called PPG. Not to name the itching, and go you need to leave it some time beofre you wash it.

So, if you need yo go out on a daily basis, then don't use it, because your hair will look like sh*t and very dirty.

I really wonder what's the secret of those guys who it twice per day and still can continue with a normal life.

It's impossible.

What's your secret guys?

Don'y bother with the main 3 hair treatments especially minoxidil. It does practically nothing for most people. The science of hair loss has advance far more over the past few years and 'approved' treatments are way behind the times. Try applying b6, zinc, emu oil, copper isopropholate and broard range EFAs to your head.
