How can one really determine consistent improvement when continually shedding miniaturized hairs? I have been on finasteride 1.25 mg ed for 10 months now, and have seen some overall hair thickening, with some regrowth at the hairline. I have always had a large crown-sworl, so it is tough for me to say whether or not finasteride has helped in that area or not.

When lightly tugging at different areas of my scalp, my crown for example, I sometimes get very fine and short hairs, even though my hair overall looks better. Will these hairs continue to miniaturize--or are these hairs strengthening backup? I feel I am having a tough time determining just how well finasteride is doing combat male pattern baldness.

I most recently have experienced some thinning at the lowest point of the frontal region. I see at my hairline, that they are already growing back. It's just frustrating not knowing if it is a good sign, or if I need to jump on Dutasteride/and or minoxidil.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

You still have hair with a short anagen phase which means they will have short terminal length and drop out quickly. You say it's thicker so that's good at least you're getting coverage and things will only get better.

Evaluate your progression by pictures so you can be sure it doesn't get worse. Don't look day by day in the mirror.

If it does get worse you can consider Dutasteride or RU58841. However you have seen improvement and hair regrowth? So that's good right :punk:.

I have seen great improvement, my hairline has moved down a bit, but right at the center of my hairline I have shed hairs that make it look fairly worse. Hard to tell if dht is winning or a normal shed

11 months in, can gently tug on any given region of my vertex and 2-3 hairs will come out. if I really pick at it, I can gently tug out 5-7 hairs. Doesn't make sense to be, being as overall my hair looks better. It is almost impossible to tell when the drug will lose it's efficacy at this point.
