How can you tell if you are diffuse thinning?

Title. I feel like the overall density of my hair looks/feels the same from years past. However pretreatments I was shedding crazy amounts of hair (150+ hairs a day) that makes me think that I was probably starting to diffuse thin. I thought I heard that if you part your hair and the part is wide that you're probably thinning. Are there any other ways to check? Picture attached is my part

Not quite sure on how to specifically check but I'd look for areas of scalp exposure--maybe take some pics with wet hair to get an idea of how transparent your hair is. Just my guess bro I may very well be wrong

Holy s*it dude I think you're good! Your hair looks great. Your hair is parted down the middle so of course there will be some scalp exposure

Looks ratty, wispy and unmanageable. typically looses pigmentation also.

Diffuse is nasty. best kept short always.

Thanks for the reply. Would you say the pictures I posted look like that/show diffuse thinning?

hair looks identical to mine, definitely not diffusing. I had suspected the same thing in the past, then I began shaving my head and each time I did it made me realize how strong and full my hair is (not including the areas of recession). My brother in law has a perfect hairline and definitely no signs of male pattern baldness. However he is getting close to 40, and sometimes you can see a lot of scalp when he has his hair spiked up a bit. Its not because he is diffusing, its just that as we age more and more hair goes dormant so losing density is something that happens to everyone over time.

Drop minoxidil and u will regret it

I was planning on just using the last month and a half worth I have and seeing if I got any real results. If I didn't I think I might just stick with Finasteride and 2% Nizoral.

You don't know how much Minoxidil is helping unless you quit, I wouldn't drop the treatment if it's been effective in any way. A couple Summers ago I stopped Minoxidil for two months and went through a horrendous shed, my hair hasn't been the same since.

Do stay on Finasteride. Nizoral 2% won't do a whole lot itself in general.

But why? 2% nizoral can do the same thing that 2% min can do

This is something I have been wondering awhile. Does finasteride maintain hair gained through minoxidil even if you quit minoxidil? If not, does anyone know as to why?

Nah it doesn't sadly. Those hairs are just dependent on minoxidil.

you sure u got any regrowth from minoxidil? If you have any hairloss it is extremely minor, ur hairline looks pretty dam solid to me. I personally wouldnt use minoxidil given its propensity for facial aging and bags under the eyes. I don't think you need it,.

Oh yeah I plan on staying on Finasteride unless I got really undesirable sides

My hair wet today, does everything look fine? View attachment 38534 View attachment 38535

Yes, stay on Finasteride to maintain hair. Do quit the treatment if undesirable side effects occur, which is unlikely to happen. Your hair looks really good. :)

Provide study?

Absolutely not. Finasteride will not maintain Minoxidil regrown hair. They're two completely separate treatments and should never be used to substitute one for another since losing ground will happen if such a decision is to be taken.

Thanks for the kind words Agustin. Is my crown thinning or is it just the way my hair is parting? I'm honestly considering dropping minoxidil if it isn't.

I feel like it looks questionable in the first two pictures, but then again maybe it's just the part/how I have it styled?

It's the way your hair is parted, it doesn't even look like your balding looking at these pics you provided. If you really are balding, then it's extremely early. It won't hurt to stay on Finasteride for preventative purposes, do stay monitored on that treatment however. Now looking at your pics, I doubt Minoxidil is needed. Did you start Minoxidil before or after Finasteride? If you started after, there is a possibility it's safe dropping it, but it could be risky. If you want to drop Minoxidil and risk a shed, then go for it.

How is your hairline, have you shared any pics showing the state of it?
