How Common Is Complete Frontal Baldness, But None On The Crown Or Back?

I've made as much peace with my hairloss as possible after all the years, and I mainly here to lurk and check out any positive developments on cures and the like. Perhaps impart positive words to those who are starting their journey.

However, I have to wonder if anyone else lost their hair in the pattern I did - that is, complete frontal recession and hair loss, a solid Norwood IV in the front, but no hair loss in the back and pretty thick hair there as well.

I was at a Norwood II by the time I was 20, and I'd say my hair took on its current shape when I was around 24. I'm 45 now, and it hasn't changed at all since then. Does this make me "lucky", or just how my hair loss works?

Personally I people have at least two genes for baldness. And I think people who have a recessive gene don't lose hair as fast as people with two dominant bald genes.

A Norwood four in the front? That's probably what I am as well.

I was only able to grow back my top hair. Not much luck with my hairline.

I'm 46. Wondering if you are running into that situation?

Certainly something similar. I've been monitoring the back of my head/crown for any hair loss in the past few years, but none can be found. I'm sure that if I were to start thinning there, I could use Rogaine and Propecia, and it would probably work well.

It just seems odd that there is a disconnect between how fast the hairline went and how there hasn't been much movement on the back. My one brother who is several years younger than me is almost completely bald, and my older brother has a full head of hair. There certainly is a lot of diversity.

It could just be slow. There are different velocities to hair loss. And it's all genetics, and nobody fully understands how it works. Since both of your brothers have opposite sides to the spectrum, having inherited most from either parent, you might have gotten a little from both.

The male pattern baldness in my family is a total mystery. Some have full heads until the grave, others have gone ball before 30. I'm certainly not a full-head by any standards, but I'm not super bald either.

I known a buddy who balded in the nw2A pattern where hairline gradually creeps all the way back. Also had retro on his sides

I'm a Norwood 2.5 or 3 at the temples with thinning in the front middle but very thick hair everywhere else. Because of this I can get pretty good coverage to make it look like I have a good head of hair when my hair is long enough. I've no doubt I would be completely bald at the front in the not too distant future if I wasn't on finasteride though.

I'm balding in the same pattern. Temples are retreating very quick. It's beginning to creep into the front middle. However I'm decent at the back. Started taking finasteride when I noticed the crown thinning though so I think that slowed it down. finasteride is doing NOTHING for the front though.

My hair loss is also primarily frontal. Barely any hairline or hair in the front section. I began Finasteride when I was 19 as a NW1. sh*t still went. Lately I tried Dutasteride for about a year without succes either.
