I am curious guys... For those of us lucky enough to have found out really really what made you think you were loosing hair? Apart from the obvious my hair was falling out!

When i was 17 i got a bad hair cut. The barber used a razor and cut my hair short. She gave me a thinning with the razor. I was disturbed at the time, but i thought that i can grow my hair again and everything will be alright. As my hair grew back, it recieded from one side. Also, it grew back thin instead of being thick. When my hair was wet i was able to see the true forms of hair loss. I decided to do a come over to cover the side that was receding. Then at the age of 19 the other side of hair line started receding. I decided to shave my head and now when the hair grew back both sides started receding. People still didn't notice it as much until they talked to me and kept staring at my hair line. I was still getting girls at school and guys who didn't have girls used to embarrass me and say damn dude you are going bald. They would do in such a way that everyone would shift their attention at towards me. Of course not everyone was an a**h**, so someone people would just shift the topic. Then at the age of 22 my hair loss wasn't as noticeable unless the wind blew hard, or i was under bright light / sun. I decided to grow my hair long and the barber told me since I loosing my hair and i shouldn't keep it long. Then he cut it short. At 22 i still got attention from girls, but other people who didn't get girls tried to find a negative aspect about me. Once a guy even told me I was lucky that i had no acne or any cosmetic problems. However, when the barber cut my hair short the same guy eventually found a way to attack me. He basically said it out loud. Dude you are going bald. Currently i am 24 and my hair loss is noticeable. I have a receding hair line and also i am forming a bald spot which still has a little hair to cover it. On the Norwood scale i am Type 3 Vertex.

Again in terms of looks i don't think i am good looking like a model or even close to it. I am just average. However, low lifes who had a full head of hair couldn't see me have friends that are girls.

I am thinking about a transplant but i have the patience to wait 6 more years till i reach the age of 30.

hmm it was quite straightforward for me- one morning just under 5months ago I was spiking my hair up just like I did most days before heading off to college- & damn there was a small section on the right part of my hairline that was noticably thinner than the rest. i didnt give it much thought since it was exam season & i had other things on my mind. by the time id done my exams a month or so later- this thinning area was definitley bigger. i was in denial for a few weeks b4 i then started on meds.

i noticed it when i could not spike my hair at the crown of my head.... i mean the hair would just not hold up like the rest of the hair did and would just fall flat.... i was in denial for a long time but then eventually faced the truth and buzzed it all off..

About 8 years ago I noticed that I my forehead seemed bigger after a haircut. Then it hit me that my hairline started receding. Started to panic, got on Rogaine for a little while. Maintained, then started Propecia 2 and half years ago. Been pretty good since then with no real ground lost.

I used to think that I had a naturally large forehead, but last year I started noticing the frontal thinning and the receding temples, etc.

I didn't wake up one morning and think that I was going bald, it was a slow realisation that my thinning was more than "mature hairline".

Receding at 13? Man, i thought i had it bad at 15/16.

Mine was a slow gradual realisation. I had been having problems spiking my hair up at the front for a number of months until i realised that my right temple was receding. Good times!

22/23 - someone at work pointed it out to me. i had noticed it before but dismissed it as a trick of the light and kidded myself - the mind can work in strange ways when its confronted with something it doesnt want to see...it wasnt noticeable for a year or two later.

Wow man sorry to hear I can't believe kids would do that at that age, I don't even know how they knew at 13 what receding was.

Did any of you guys notice your crowns early, do any of you remember how your crown thinning start (if you have crown thinning). I heard that when the crown starts to thin a 'line' develops which extends the naturally parted line on the top of your head to the back?

Anyone care to explain

Cheers

I remember this girl Becky at my first job told me I was going bald when I was 17. Didn't really do anything about it until I turned 22.

I noticed around a month before my first year of college started my hair near my face was starting to thin out. I didn't start doing anything about it till three months ago.

I didn't even know what receeding meant at that age, it was only a few kids that said this but it is my first time I realised I was losing my hair after learning what it meant.

Tons of hair on white pillow case in dorm at 19...even roomate may a comment about it. This is first sign of severe diffuse thinning and very obvious sign.

I was riding in the car with friends, one of which, at 22, was aggressively balding. He said something like "yeah, me and treeshrew will be bald in a year!" - i was like "speak for yourself"

when i got home i immediately pulled my hair back and realized, yes, that widow's peak i've always had was getting bigger.

then it hit me - my grandfather was bald. i checked out some pictures, and sure enough, he was slick bald at 30, something i had never noticed or had even crossed my mind before.

i thought to myself - well my hair is receding this sucks - then one day, a year or two after i had accepted this fate, i took a picture of the top of my head - and DAMN a huge bald spot i had NO idea about. that was truly shocking.
