I'm curious to know (especially with you guys having shaved heads) if you could describe your hair loss pattern over months (or weeks); how did it progress, how it started...how long it took before you decided you had to do something about it, etc.

It would help me confirming wheter or not I have early signs of frontal hair loss.

Noticed it above ears one day out of the blue. I had hair past my eyes at the time. Anyway, started above my ears. I was under tons of stress at the time. Actually, the stress JUST went away. But then temples started diffusing. I have a good hairline (moved back about an inch now though) but I'm diffused on the sides bad. The front is starting to go thin now as well as the crown. I AM FUCKED

I heard its common to have more than one type of hairloss simultaneously. I'm hoping thats whats happening. My loss has been AGRESSIVE since Jan '03. I have never seen ANY bald guy with no hair above the ears. Something isnt right

It was August of 1999. I was going home from Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for my sister's wedding. I cut my hair at about 1/4 inch on top....shaved the sides........I noticed that my hairline above the temples was receding. I went into denial.

That November I got some minoxidil used it for a month. Threw it away......more denial ensued.

Stayed in a good portion of denial until November of 2000. I finally accepted my state in July of 2001 and bought some Propecia.

Denial has been my biggest enemy. No question.

I allways had "cool" haircuts, or the latest fashion. I would also ask the stylist to thin out my hair a lot. After one cut the stylist put gel in my hair when it was wet and she said it didn't look good so she blew dry my hair and restyled it. The next day when i tried to use gel as i would but my hair seemed thinner than ever. I blamed in on the cut, but within a month it was obvious it was thinning. That was only last January. Damn I wish I could have the hair back that I had then.

1966 - I was 6. I remember my mom running her hand through my hair and telling me I was destined to lose it. I also remember her ASSURING me that hairloss would be a thing-of-the-past by the time I started losing it. We laugh about it today but I mention nothing to my own 2 sons.

1983 - I notice that my hair didn't look so good anymore parted in the middle - I was beginning to recede in the temples.

It was about 7 years ago. I shaved my head down to a buzz clip #2. I noticed my temples receding, people at work also noticed my temples receding, they started to say that I should stop wearing a hat or else I am going to go bald. I never shaved my head ever again. I bought minoxidil 2% because that was the only one available. Anyway I read the back of the carton of rogaine and it said "not intended for frontal use", so I never applied the sh*t to my temples. BIG MISTAKE! I didnt get word of propecia coming out... until 2001. I spent mad money on mad products that didn't do anything for me. I have this small scar on my forehead that I got from playing hockey. I remember I used to have hair that covered the scar and then I noticed the scar became fully visible with no hair strands in sight. Thats my story!

PS. Maybe we should make a big circle scar in an area of our scalps to see if we are growing and maintaining our hair. Or you could just use a magic marker!

i used to have a square hairline- i first noticed it in the corners, they used to be straight, then all of a sudden i noticed the box shape was disappearing and the hair at my sideburns was heading back on an an angle up to above my ears. eventually, the hair near my sideburns also receded, so more or less now i have another box-shaped hairline, just not as sharp as it used to be- it's about an inch receded on the sides, and nothing off of the hairline. Been two years since it started and hasn't progressed at all since. looks like my mature hairline has set in and it ain't gonna get any worse anytime soon, thank the heavens!!!

Always had a high hairline, father has a strong receeding hairline, mothers side of the family is all totally bald by 25...

Hair started feeling kind of different, almost like straw and not settling down like it normally did. Scalp started getting very red and itchy...noticed the thinning 6 months or so later, and yep, its slowly getting worse =P
