How do you ask for medication?

What the title says. I want to get on the medication but my Doctor is bald and will be embarrassing asking for a script for baldness.

"I have been noticing a lot of shedding recently and I think it's because of male pattern baldness. Do you think I would be a good candidate for Finasteride?"

perhaps you should develop character, and self-esteem?

He's a physician who's job is to help, and advise not judge you on your facial aesthetics.

My doctor turned be down for proscar because he didn't know anything about its use for hair loss.. I told him how it worked, he said he'd do some research and next time if he found it to be safe, maybe he'd prescribe it. Saw him again a couple of months later, asked him again, he still hadn't done any research.

Bear in mind, it costs €50 for a single GP visit in ireland. Criminal stuff! My doctor in Japan was much more obliging, simply asked him for dutasteride, he gave it, no questions. Only problem is they only give you a one month supply each time which really isn't practical when you have a full time job...

Thanks god for the internet, GPs are just an expensive and often incompetent middle man between us and the medications we need.

Tell him what you want, also explain how the drug works and it's FDA approved. He may not know.

^ I asked went to a few clinics here in Ontario, where it costs nothing to see a doctor, and all of the M.Ds I asked who had significant hair loss just simply told me there is nothing I can do about it and that I can't change my genetics blah blah blah

THIS is why I still have not gone on finasteride. I'm on a very tight budget right now with no insurance. I was going to go to a GP because here in US, it's cheaper for a walk-in, maybe 100 bucks. But lots of people told me GPs are less likely to prescribe it without red tape so I looked into dermatologists, which are at least twice as much for an initial visit. Then I start reading horror stories about derms forcing their patients to pay 200 for the walk in fee, then go to a separate GP for blood work before coming back to pay another 200 for the prescription.

I cannot afford to toss 100-200 dollars out the window and come out empty handed because some doctor decides I don't "need" to keep my hair. GPs are very ignorant a lot of the time.

I have been one step away from ordering online. A year's supply is 56 dollars shipped, less than half of what a doctor's visit + prescription would cost, EVEN IF the doctor gave it to me the first time.

Yet, I'm still really worried about getting placebo pills or having customs confiscate the order. I'm very OCD so I have been mulling this over for like 3 months now. If you have a good, trusted place to order finasteride, send me a PM. I want to just bite the bullet on this already.

I don't actually buy it online, though I will get my next lot online. Last 2 times I went to a hair transplant clinic. First consultation was €240, subsequent consultations are €80. It's expensive, but they prescribed a 1 year supply (4 packs of proscar) so at least I don't have to go back more than once a year. Still a pain though, I too wold like to know reliable online proscar sellers. Only problem is Irish customs seize any medications from non EU sellers (canadian online pharmacy) and Japanese customs can have you arrested for importing prescription drugs, they're super strict...

There are a couple of Irish based (legit ones, not questionable online pharmacies) websites offering finasterade now in Ireland. Webdoctor.ie is one of them. €25 for a consultation.

Cheers Iopu, I'll order from them next time I'm home!
