How do you guys travel with hairsystems?

Hey guys, Ive been using a hairsystem for 5 months now its amazing but I will admit maintenance is a b**ch. I have tried and completely failed at cleaning it and reattaching it myself so I have to get it done at the salon every 2 weeks or so. now this isn't usually a problem if I stay in my city and keep going to the same salon over and over, but I plan to teach english in multiple countries next year and I'm already worried about how I'm going to maintain it overseas.

how do you guys go about finding salons in different cities and how can you be sure that they will take good care of your system? I've had the experience already of trying a different salon that almost ended up ruining my system. I really don't want to go through that again.

any help would be appreciated.

Im in a slightly different boat as I fully DIY apart from cuts. When I lived away I was able to find a local salon to do the cuts. I lived away for work for an extended time and had to get new units shipped out. The biggest issue was products.

I guess for the full package, it depends on salon/expert/product availability. For example, where are you travelling to...Some places will be more suitable than others.

Yeah products are something I'm worried about as well. getting them shipped is such a hassle, but Ive been lucky that all the salons Ive been to had some around.

Im going to be teaching in Bangkok, Romania and Japan.

You should be ok in the first and third. Not 100% sure re Romania.

No that doesnt look right.

2 weeks in and the tape shouldnt be like that and if its its time to change.

The hair has been bleached badly and created the two tone look - not good. Its also too dense at the front.

Did you go to a salon or do it yourself? If a salon you need to return.

Hairsystems do work for many people but its vital you as a wearer are convinced and confident in what you wear. The result should be far better but well done on a first step as we always learn

For Zefet

Hi Zefet

Welcome to the forum. No, that is not normal and not a good result. I'm sure we can help you get it better. Are you fitting your system yourself or are you using a salon? Do you know what kind of base your system has? And what kind of adhesive are you using?

Hello dear Grincher.
I agree with your since i put it on my head i felt worse that before, it's so dense and i didn't want that at all, i got it done at a salon. i also went today and they said that this is the best that they can do and i will get used to it, they even made it much worse when they reattached it here it is.. i even think it dose not like my original hair as this is how i used to look like...20160328_090006.jpgScreen Shot 2014-02-12 at 6.04.32 AM.jpg

To state the obvious they havent done a good job and to make it worse they have been insincere to you.

You might need to find another salon and / or reorder elsewhere and take it to a different salon. I good supplier will explain all the variables and find the right solution but you will see need to find a place to cut in.

Hi Zefet

There are a number of problems there. Obviously there is some loose lace, and the glue looks thick and shiny. I would guess the hair system was put onto the glue before it was dry. Those problems can all be fixed.

However, the mesh of the base also looks a bit coarse, and is not disappearing very well. The hair near the base has been bleached, which is normally a good thing because it makes the knots disappear - a sign of a quality hairpiece. But in this case it has turned the hair an odd yellow color near the base.

I think this system could be cleaned up and re-applied so that it looks fine for a style where the hairline is covered. I am not sure it will be suitable for a style with an exposed hairline.
